I have seen a lot of people slating Nolan this morning liking him to Bullard in the way he has moved for a longer contract and bigger bucks! I have no idea how you people can have a go at these players?! Im pretty sure if you all got offered another job for more money, you would take it! What is the difference with a footballer (it is just a job). Get over it!
If I got offered more money to be teaboy, dont think I would do it! However, in the case of Nolan I suspect he doesn't get on great with Pardew and he had a great relationship with Big Sam @ Bolton.
I dont think the championship can be compared to a teaboy! lol I think you maybe right with the Big Sam link they seem to get on well in the past.
I can probably honestly say that I would stay at my present club if I enjoyed myself there and earned some decent cash. Feels more fun to become a club legend than earning a few quid more
I'm not sure why you felt the need to post this article, the Nolan thread has 13 comments on it, only 2/3 of them could be considered negative and it's not even about one of our players.
Nolan wanted an extension to his current contract but was not offered one. He has been an excellent player and Captain for Newcastle and (imo) should have been offered one. When the 5 year contract came in from "Big Sam" he took it but has stated that he did not want to leave but had no option but to secure his future. Alan Pardew has not endeared himself to the fans who have expressed disappointment as has Joey Barton.
Newcastle have stated (45 minutes ago) that they have received no offers from any Club for Joey Barton.
I dont think its a Pardew sale, I think its Mike Ashley doing it all. One reason why Chris Hughton wanted to leave also! With Nolan, Carrol and Barton, they were a really good Premiership team. Now, there gonna need some big money signings!
They have made a couple of signings whose names are not familiar to me but Joey Barton is reported to have said that he was very impressed with them and was not looking to leave. Your views on Ashley could well be true as his decisions over the years are questionable to say the least. I believe the fans are looking to the day when there is a new owner and Alan Shearer is the Manager. Some time yet I fear.
They've signed: Sylvain Marveaux - A 25 year old French left winger from Rennes, who hasn't played since November last year, when he had his third operation on a recurring groin problem(was going to Liverpool, but allegedly failed the medical, though the player denies this). Demba Ba - 26 year old French(but plays for Senegal) striker from West Ham. Yohan Cabaye - A 25 year old French box-to-box midfielder, signed from Lille, has four caps for France. Barton will be familiar with Demba Ba, but I doubt he's even heard of the other two. The Toons are apparently looking forward to singing 'Frog on the Tyne' next season.
Yohan Cabaye is currently holding a French winners medal, and was highly regarded around Europe and is an absolute steal at 5m. Demba Ba is a pretty class act from what i have seen, when he was played through the middle he scored 7 in 12 for a team that went down isn't exactly bad!
True, I don't know how long I could last after retiring if all I took home in the next two years was somewhere in the region of £3.5M (and that's after tax before someone says he was on £70k not £35k).
To be honest I thought you were quoting him and he'd said it as an excuse for dropping a division to earn more money.
There's no doubt he got the sh!ts on but, weighing up the situation, by signing for West Ham he should (and I emphasize SHOULD) only spend next season in the Championship and then back into the EPL where the Hammers should at least stay for the remaining 4 years of his contract. Newcastle on the other hand, are not looking too good at this stage.
Newcastle's business has been excellent so far. Obviously there is an element of risk with foreign players but so far they've cleared a massive earner who'll have no sell-on value in 2 years time and brought in some potentially excellent players. Don't forget that they recently made Hatem Ben Arfa's loan move permanent and tied Cheik Tiote down to a 5 year deal. That's a pretty awesome basis for building a team.
