I just got emailed this e-petition which is a campaign to make the England World Cup shirt more affordable. The price has risen by a massive 140% since the 2006 shirt was brought out. Please follow this link to sign the petition: http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitio...pt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition
Yeah. The only way they'll charge less next time is if people actually protest by not pulling their wallets out.
The question is how much is the FA making in the shirt deal? I bet it's quite a bit, far too expensive. A simple t-shirt with England will be fine for me.
By the time you purchase the shirt, shorts, socks and shin pads for the kids it would probably be cheaper to fly out to Brasil and see the real thing? Exploitation at its best.
I'm not? And from a quick look the REAL shirt is selling at £89 were as the Stadium version is around £50.
Me neither. I've already got two [they were given to me - what could I say..?] I signed the petition though. It is daylight robbery, and yes, the obvious answer is not to buy it. But it isn't quite as simple as that. There are unfortunate people out there who are so keen on supporting their national football team that they will pay over the odds to do it. Knowing that there is somewhat of a captive audience out there, there has been an element of exploitation by Nike.
Max I would pay for a football top is £50. It's actually dividing people with having two different versions. You will get some little boy(or girl) all happy with there new top. Only for a boy or girl to say they have the REAL shirt and theirs is rubbish.
Well yeah. but a bit of negative publicity for these rip off merchants will hit their bottom line, and might make them think twice about taking the piss so blatantly.
Wait until we crash out after the group stage; it will be reduced to clear then.... If you still want one.* *(this assumes that Roy doesn't select Adam, Jay, Rickie and Luke to play in all games, whereupon we shall be sitting watching the Final wearing that shirt under our Saints tops)
If I want an England shirt for the World Cup, I'll head online and get a retro one for about £20. Sorted.
