FIFA has banned Barcelona from signing players for the next two transfer windows due to breaches relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee also sanctioned the Spanish FA (RFEF) for the same reason.

Barcelona have been fined CHF 450,000 (£306,000).

The Spanish FA was fined CHF 500,000 and given a year to regulate their systems.

The sanctions follow investigations initially conducted by the FIFA Transfer Matching System over the course of last year and subsequently by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee as part of disciplinary proceedings.

The RFEF and Barcelona were found to have violated several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of non-Spanish minors with the club.

The investigations concerned several minor players who were registered and participated in competitions with the club over various periods between 2009 and 2013.

Good spot. I wonder how much they'll have to offer him in wages to convince him to stick around for another year. (under embargos you can usually extend contracts, just not sign new players and I'm assuming the same here because I can't be arsed to read the full details)

I've disliked Barcelona for a while now, the only thing about them that appeals to me is Messi.

This embargo pretty much confirms their period of dominance over imo.

Not usually. They might try to go for special dispensation. Just remembered Pompey were allowed to sign players if they had less than 2 fit senior keepers, or less than 14 fit senior players in total. The thing with the keepers is, it's only one leaving, they've still got their 2nd/3rd/4th/however many keepers they've got to fall back on, so they might just have to use one of them for a year.

I doubt it. Can't see the first team head coach having much involvement in the transfer dealings of the academy at Barca, the way their elections of club Presidents works over there I doubt he had much involvement in first team transfers.

This will make absolutely 0 difference. Maybe barca finish third for a year. They have the funds/players/academy/fame to recover from this. Nice for people to see they're not the holier than thou team people believe.

They've appealed, so it won't start until the January window anyway.

Yes but not a No.1 Valdes would be missing the start of next season anyway due to injury even if he was not a free agent in the summer. A big problem area for Barca as things stand.

Apart from the Valdes issue, Barca will just keep all the players who have out on loan for this season. Everton will pay for that as they wanted to keep loan player this season Gerard Deulofeu. He looks set to go back now.
