tongue in cheek (and with great optimism)...............I hope Man Utd can grab that sixth place in The Prem so they qualify for the Europa League qualifying rounds and get the chance to play us in the group stages!! That's how far we've come (potentially).

Sorry to be a killjoy, but two teams from the same nation cannot be put in the same group...

I always used to mark the how far have we come points by the different circumstances we played the same teams in. Like Leeds at the KC as a PL friendly while we were in D3, then becoming us playing against them and relegating them a few years later, and Barnsley I remember came to us for a friendly when they were the better club, and a few years later we went there instead. Next season it could be remember when Man U were winning the Champions League and we were fighting away at the bottom of the whole league, well now we're in Europe and they're not. There isn't really a similar comparison to make for any of the other sides in that race for the top 6.

    GY and Lincoln non league

Sheff Utd in the third division

The vermin in permanent disarray, shuttling between divs2 & 3

City in the Premier League, at Wembley, almost in Europe.

For a while, a few years back, it almost seemed the fates had conspired to fashion a perverse and macabre version of the True and Natural Order of the Cosmos.

When City were in the bottom division and Grimsby were in the nationwide 1st division, i made a rather weird bet with my mate that City would get to the Premier League before them. He didn't support them, but used to wind me up saying he did.

Needless to say i had the last laugh.

I should be adding on Allamesque interest on this money i'm owed.

A wealthy owner and ITV money topping up their best larkers wages - note GY's troubles started with the sudden pulling of said ITV money.

*Info courtesy of the several codheads I once worked with.

We've always been in Europe. Odd that you don't realise.

I hope we don't lose to Sheffield United as we can all draw back to this post where you said we were through.

You write a lot of words, shame....

Yeah, maybe if I'd written less words you'd have seen I used the word "could", as in "Next season it could be...". :p
