Brucey has taken us far beyond were I thought we would get over his initial two years in charge, great achievement and hopefully more to come. However even if we were to win the FA Cup something tells me that one of the two guys on Merseyside will become Manager of the Year! Rodgers and Martinez have both done great jobs as well, but both had much better positions, budgets and players to work with from the start by comparison to Brucey. Brucey; Manager of the Year, should be but won't be?
I think it will depend on a few things. First things first, it's more difficult to get recognised at Hull City than at Liverpool. Secondly, his achievements from last season wouldn't matter in this award. If we finish 17th, I think people from outside the club will say he's done a great job but not beyond the realms of believability. If we have a final flurry, finish 12th and win the FA cup I think that is well beyond what anyone would think Hull City could achieve this season. Whereas Martinez, if he finishes just outside of the Champs League, it's not a huge step up from what they've achieved recently - albeit, they've played well achieving it. Looking at Rodgers, if Liverpool fall away and finished 3rd or 4th, again, he's done a great job but pales in significance to Brucey. If Liverpool win the premiership, he deserves manager of the year. This is the business end of the season and there's still a long way to go.
If Rodgers wins the title with Liverpool he'll win it, and deservedly so in my opinion. I'm sure Bruce will get a mention for it, as I'm sure will Tony Pulis.
Pulis by a million miles. Do people remember how bad Palace were when he took over? Everyone to a man said 'Well there goes his record of never getting relegated'.
I totally forgot about Pochettino. He's been fantastic, i'd probably put him in front of Bruce (although that'll change if you win the cup).
