Even if we win the title?? Got to admit I'm actually hoping you get 4th Mainly because I want us to meet in the quarters so we get a bye to the semis
We would never meet in the quaters.....think you would struggle to get out of the tough group you will get IF you make it into the CL
That may well be the case....I'm looking forward to finding out though IF we make it into the CL. Our record isn't too shabby after all and the team is playing better now than it was last time we were in it
Whoever holds their nerve will capture 4th place. Everton are in good form and going into the Arsenal game on a high. Arsenal is looking better after the Man City game but Goodison Park will be a very difficult proposition, especially when you lot haven't lost since December. Most probable result would be a draw, but a victory either way is possible.
A draw would do, but it'll be more interesting if Everton will get the 4th spot from Arsenal.. Do you think a 4-0 is possible?
I would like at least a draw as If Arsenal win our heads might drop due to us thinking 4th place has gone and our performances may drop as a result...
Looking at both clubs run in's, we'll have to win on Sunday to have any realistic chance of beating them in the race for 4th mate, a draw won't be enough. A defeat ends it. A win puts it in our own hands.... Massive game for both clubs, and we owe those beauts at least one.....come on Everton ffs, for once see it through.
You seem to outplay us a lot in recent times but can never get the win for whatever reason. Will be very happy with a draw
There's been a few games like that between us in recent years. Even the most recent cup pounding, was an even contest until the penalty gift.
Even if we beat them and win our game in hand to go 2 points in front of them I don't think we will do it.
To stand a chance? If we won every game that'd give us 81 points ffs, in most years 71-72 is enough for 4th In addition if we did beat Arsenal their maximum points tally would then be 79
Even if we don't get 4th, what a season it's been. I don't think anybody expected this, more glorious given how many were tipping us for a poor season when the Messiah went along with our supposed best player. Future looks really, really bright. We will break our Premier League points record in our transitional season! Or is that phrase only used for teams doing badly?
Our highest ever PL points tally is 65 (we got 4th with 61 in '05 ) so given we've already got 60 with 7 games left, we should eclipse that whatever happens, so of course you're right, what an achievement in his first full season. He's been unfortunate that it's coincided with a season where a pack of sides have delivered similar results without the usual couple of standouts, so the points required to attain 4th is likely to be a record number. I expected mid table and a season of frustration, but he's proved me and many others wrong, as he's taken us forwards, which given our resources compared to our peers is incredible.
As you don’t want to concede we need to win ALL our remaining games of the season let’s look at it this way. We have to imagine it is now a two horse race for 4th IF both sides have matching results for the remaining games of the season then this weekend’s game is critical and we need to win? So both sides win the remaining games (Arsenal six and Everton seven) Arsenal would have 82 points Everton would have 81 points But this is an impossible result, so let’s say the weekend’s game is a draw and the remaining games (Arsenal five and Everton six) Arsenal would have 80 points Everton would have 79 points So with a win for either side this weekend and both teams go on to win the remaining games the points total would be Arsenal would have 82(win)79(lose) points Everton would have 81(win)78(lose) points ==== i hope my adding up is right
