It could not happen to a nicer bunch of pony fiddlers! ....................... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26813363
Pompey get one win and suddendly SB3 is back to worry about Southampton. Again, as I said before, I find it ironic that they go on about us buying success when they've done pratically the same thing but that's them, we're us and I'm not in the habit of throwing mud. As the saying goes, people who live in glass houses should throw stones.
I blame Nicola Cortese for trying to ruin the club - I mean spending all that money on transfer fees and high wages, trying to buy success. Tut, Tut, Tut........
If that situation is "financially difficult", I'm sure most clubs in England would love to have similar "difficulties". Obviously they only go up to June 2013, so would be interesting to see how these compare in 12 months time (some more outlay on wages no doubt but probably offset by more income). However, I'd assume very clubs (if any) in the PL operate at 65% wage to turnover. Not that I've checked the stats mind you. If I were a Saints fan (which I'm not, so my opinion doesn't count), I'd probably be pleased with this knowing that despite the "speculate to accumulate" to get in to the PL, they're operating well within their financial means and don't need to sell players. However, I suppose the question is - will they invest in players or are they happy where they are with the prospect of troubling Europe each season? And will some of their players want to move on if they won't or want better contracts as interest in them increases from other clubs. However, in that case they'll be getting top dollar for their England internationals. Still a nice problem to have I think. Sorry SB3. I'll get back on message now. They're f*cked.
What that announcement says to me is they are financially ok, don't need to sell but maybe not looking to buy either. As the manwiththef'inglongname says, will they twist or will they stick. Nice problem to have, though. Moi, jealous?
65% is on the low end. The biggest threat of leaving is obviously Shaw, but I think if he's being properly advised, he'll stay at least 1 more season. You'll have to speak up, I can't hear you over the 80+ league places we are above you.
Sorry there was a word missing from my post in that I meant to say very few operate at 65%. When you look at the size of the squads most clubs have to be well over 65% (and that's not even looking at City, Man U etc).
A simplistic response to the question posed by our learned friend is No sonny we are not but thanks for your concern
Also, Don Nichola(funny to have a girls name )did not walk away for no reason I reckon he knew that the poor little rich girl, Liebfraumilch was planning to sell up and walk with as big a profit as she could, cos she dont like footy anyways and may want to cash in her pension fund !Watch that space................
Hello the Very part time Pony horse chestnut Fiddler is back. I take it your nuts are two sore to fiddle with at the moment sb, so you have a little spare time to spend on your keypad. Good to see Pompey pick up 3 pts the weekend in their bid to stay in League football sb. Do you think you will manage to stay up after that massive win or are you thinking Eastleigh here we come. ( nut fiddling houses and all ). ?
