Gibbs has been impressive these past 2 games (being sent off rejuvenated him ) The League might be out of reach but we can still end this season with a bang and get the Cup. Really encouraging performance and I hope we play like we did in the 2nd half for the rest of the season. Props to Flamini, Verm, and BFG as well.
Think about the players we were missing and that makes that result and second half performance even better.
Wenger must have brainwashed Flamini into thinking he was Ramsey because damn the guy put in a shift today
But isn't he walking that thin line in every game now? If he gets booked VS Everton he misses next 2.
Feeling a bit more confident about our trip to Goddison after that, think Everton will come out flying though in a way city didn't
Definitely. Just imagine if we'd had Walcott bursting through with Ozil threading balls into him. We were a bit unlucky not to score again in the second half, and we could have nicked it. Good performance in the second half and hopefully will give us momentum for the run it
Everton is our hardest Prem game left (though we MUST not underestimate anyone). I'd rather he misses 2 other games (when Ramsey or Kallstrom can deputize) than he misses that one.
Flamini was top notch today . A+ for effort and the goal was the icing. Tomas put in his usual performance . Gibbs ..solid Would like to have seen Oxo on a bit earlier and Pod given more free reign . A solid secondhalf performance . Giroud had far too many duff touches ....but its getting boring to keep talking about him now. Its too often .
Great performance. Giroud played well dispite the comments here, especially when he got support. We were the only side looking to win. Hope Wenger signs his new contract after that result.
I'll wait until the end of the season before making any Wenger contract judgement but damn this was a top class game.
So we shown we can compete with the better teams at home, but away from home we have shat our pants. How does Wenger or a new manager sort that out for next season?
If we win the rest of our games we can finish the league with 84 points. That'd be a fairly low title win but good enough for second in most of the last 5+ years. So mathematically we still have the possibility to win or finish in the top 2. Looking at our remaining fixtures it is nth eying the realm of possibility but would require some real consistency. Even though there is only 5 points in it and all of the 3 above us have to play each other I can't see all 3 teams dropping enough points for us to win it. But whilst it's still possible it'll keep up the moral in the team and hopefully push us on to winning the fa cup and getting into the top 3 spots.
Missed the first half, much improved second half by all accounts, hopefully the players will now realise that by putting a shift in they will always have the fans behind them.
