Hiddink has been confirmed as the next Holland manager as Van Gaal is set to leave his post. Reported on BBC who throw in 'Van Gaal has been linked with a move to the Premier League' to add a bit of fuel.

I've seen that a lot of us would fancy Van Gaal as a Moyes' replacement - although none of us have a clue how long Utd will actually stick with Dave. (Could be a long time) but this will no doubt get somebody, somewhere a little wet.

Prepare yourselves for a long summer of intense speculation, optimistic patter on the forums and potential disappointment...

He isnt moving anywhere until after the World Cup so whoever he joins will be late in the summer

Wouldn't Utd make a decision before this as if to give the budget to Moyes or not? I dont know

  3. If they're going to make a change that I'd expect Moyes to be sacked by the end of May no matter when someone else can come in.

They would be wise to approach him now, before the World Cup prep truly starts, if they did want him. Sack Moyes now, put a temp in place until the end of the season and find out who Van Gaal wants us to try and sign over the summer.

That sounds ridiculous actually but, then again, I'm living in a fairy tale world after the last few months, reality is a bit too real for me at the minute...

You would think the decision would come at the end of the season

Bring him in now I say ( unless Klopp has made it clear he is available ).

Hes a national team manager and wont see his side until the club season ends, so why cant he come in now, today, the next 10 seconds and start working with our squad for next season.

In May he can concentrate back on Holland for the WC having already spent time at United putting plans in place.

Yeah, I realised after posting it. Tottenham is a bit of a circus, I wouldn't fancy it if I was him.

Then again, same could be said of United this season...

So you think Van Gaal will have enough knowledge of our squad to know the players he wants? He's a foreigner who's managed in Holland, Germany and Spain, so you really think he's been making our games a priority to watch every weekend?

I'm not saying the guy doesn't know his football, but there is so many games to take in every weekend all across Europe, so I very much doubt he's been watching much more than a few minutes highlights each week of our matches

Fair to say a few minutes highlights is all he'll need to see how bad you are <whistle>

Of course I don't think that, how insulting! I eluded to it being a fairy tale and not to be taken literally. This whole thread is tongue in cheek, fantasy, 'what ifs'...!

But you can't say that if we did approach him now that he wouldn't have a good idea by the end of the season that our squad needs additions in defence & midfield, it's hardly a secret.

I would be in favour of his appointment, should it happen.

    Good for you matth.

I wouldn't. Let's be honest, his successes have been sporadic and strung out of a good couple of decades. Don't get me wrong, he's had way more success than our Dave but I would much rather we go for a younger, dynamic, more forward thinking manager.

Klopp in other words. Before Arsenal get their mits on him.

He just doesn't fit with United at all. Foreign, 62 years old, hasn't really stuck around in any job in the last 10-15 years and generally doesn't come across as the right man for the job.

I wish we'd gone all out for Pep Guardiola when we had the chance.

Ancelotti, Capello, Klopp (someone of stature to take over the club... or a complete fruitloop with class  )

Ruff, Van Gaal would get the players performing, he doesn't take crap from anyone, he just the manager we need at the moment.

Seems short term to me Matth.

Moyes has been a mistake, next man needs to be the right one.

Worked for Chelsea when they had Guus Hiddink as their manager.
