I actually think United would be good for him. They have a better record with youngsters than Chelsea. They may have a manager we are all laughing at and unsure of, but they are Manchester United, a massive, massive club. He'd play every week for the next 12 years and be a hero.

    Hope its bullshit though.

I don't really understand what possesses people to have such hate for a club which focuses on producing its own talent and isn't owned by some ethically-dodgy tycoon whose injected money is the only thing keeping them afloat. As far as the world's richest clubs go, surely United are the most morally sound. Appreciate!

I understand your sentiment, but I was brought up on the Hampshire/Surrey Border and my mum, best mate and most people I knew were United fans. I am enjoying this current blip they are having.

With the Rumours that Patrick Evra is leaving united in the summer and Leighton Blaine's signing a new contract at Everton.

Man United are panic buying our players :/

If we have accepted a deal for him I will lose a lot of respect for KL.

Could this be the reason why Cortese left?

He wanted to build a team from our youth ranks and you don't do that by selling them once they break into the first team!

I assume it's autocorrect that is turning real players into Pro Evo players in this comment.

For 30m, I'd be okay with Shaw leaving. Hard to see it happening, though. If he wants to stay, we'll keep him and if he wants to go we won't get 30m.

There's a rumour that we're going after Karim Bellarabi from Bayer Leverkusen (He's currently on loan at Einrtacht Braunschweig)

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...-striker-karim-bellarabi-4012158#.UzUYgVe6SrU

Don't really know anything about him. But is it just me or are we going after significantly cheaper targets these days? Most of the names that crop up are around the 2 million mark which is very little considering what the average team is spending. Could very well be the reason that Cortese left is that Kl and the board refused to hand out more money for new player in favor of hanging onto current talent.

Rather have players on a small price tag with a point to prove than over-priced players who are simply in it for the money.

That's what I originally thought when Gaston Ramirez signed, it was just a big statement.
However, I take it all back, now the rest of the team is improving he looks more comfortable and composed. He looks like he is part of the squad, not just a big name with a dollar sign on his forehead.

No, but he cost 8.8m which isnt a fortune but significantly more than what we're seemingly eyeing at the moment. I'm not even objecting to buying cheaper players, its just an observation that most the players we've been linked with have topped out at about 2 million

There is one big difference between Nicola and Katharina...it's not Cortese's money. KL stepped in for a reason...she wasn't happy with the ways things were going....obviously okay on the footballing side, so the problem must have been with the book balancing and lack of accountability. Whether we sell players or not is proof of nothing....it is how it pans out afterwards. If we keep everybody....great, but the sale of one highly priced player doesn't spell disaster. The proof to me will be in Mauricio staying...if Shaw is sold and he stays...we can assume he has been given reassurances and he still feels that he can make a difference here.

I've said it before but if we can sell players for more than we think they're worth we should be doing it. It gives us funds to buy players whom we believe to be undervalued.

If (and I stress if) we could sell Luke for £30M we could buy 3 Dejans or 3 J-Rods. Which would you rather have? Good players with cover or one left back? I would argue that two or three good players would make more of a difference to our performance over a season than one great player with no cover.

We can't argue that we want a deeper squad and that we can't sell any players at all; the books would never balance. (We can argue it, of course, this is the internet - where funds are limitless and everything is possible).

And we would probably have a sell on clause as well. I'd like to keep Shaw because I'd hate to see him anywhere else, but that makes no sense in the business world. A good price and money well spent on other players and probably reducing the debt on the new training ground is sound business. Rather sell one top price player and keep the team together.

Whatever happens to the likes of Luke (I would love to keep him) I only want us to bring in 3 or four players in the summer. Previous windows have proven that this works well and doesn't destabilise the squad.
Look at teams who have bought in 6-12 new players and everything goes to pot.

Rather have 3-4 good players for £5m-£15m than 10 at £2-£5m

Problem is, there aren't three Dejans or 3 J-Rods on the market. We did bloody well getting those two, but it doesn't follow that 1 x Shaw @ £30mill = 3 x Jay/Dejan. What is almost certain is that a left back of Luke Shaw's ability and potential is irreplaceable even at £30mill. In other words, we're infinitely better off keeping him if we can. If we can't, so be it, let's hope the money would then be reinvested. But keeping him would be a massive coup in itself.

Could'nt agree more, if we are to move on and progress we must keep our best players. Its not just a case of dipping into the transfer market and pulling out 2 or 3 gems with the available funds?

I would rather get a player in for a cheaper price as there is less expectation. Lovern and Cork prime examples, when a player comes in with a big price tag they come with the expectation and we expect so much more i.e. Gaston and Mr Depp alot of the time they just don't deliever.

Same with Torres for Chelsea and Mata for United. Big tags and lots expected.
