I wonder if they might start at home. Sunderland are still fighting. Relatively speaking, Gus Poyet has done a good job - they were a shambles when he took over. If he'd been manager in pre-season, they'd be safe by now. I don't see why their cup runs would hurt their league form. They've won some games, got some confidence and team spirit - the dressing room needed sorting out. I don't think the cups have been a problem, in fact it has probably helped them. Sunderland's problem is goalscoring. They've not had Steven Fletcher fit - he will score, we know that. Nobody else has really chipped in with the goals. West Ham got booed for winning at home against Hull. It's a strange one. After losing three and getting sucked back into the danger zone, they actually won a game and were booed. I think they are a win away from being safe. Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Merson Sunderland's next four fixtures after this one are against Tottenham, Everton, Man City and Chelsea - and I can't see them getting much change out of those. I know there will be a shock result or two somewhere along the way (as we saw when Villa beat Chelsea the other week), but they need to win this game. I thought they did well against Liverpool. They set up well and looked a better team when Ki came on and they avoided the heavy defeat I expected - but now they need to go and put some points on the board. It's nearly lights out if they don't win this because it will only take one fluky result for Crystal Palace and they are in deep trouble. West Ham won in midweek and that takes the pressure off Sunderland a little bit because they've got less to play for. A lot depends on how Sunderland start the game and they need to go for it or they risk being cut adrift by the time they play Cardiff at the end of April. This is their cup final. The Capital One Cup memory has gone and they have to win this. my two girls first ever match
And who said romance was dead. Sorry, just read that again, thought it read by girl friends first ever match.
Coming up for this and looking forward to it. I always want to beat West Ham for many reasons but mainly because of that stupid song of theirs. It's dreary, doesn't make any sense and it's cringng when they blow bubbles at the start of the match. 3-1 to Sunderland ........... Haway Lads!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not putting a bet on us, so that SHOULD mean we've got this ****er in the bag. I'm going 2-0. Come on you little ****s!
A lot of people forget he's only 21! Born in the year I turned 18 - f**ker!!! I never predict anything any more. The way things are going with their crowd etc it may get to the players (hopefully) and we can come out on top - I said about the Norwich game "Lose and we're down" -I'm not sure we'll stay up even if we win this one but it would give the whole place a lift. I certainly wouldn't be booing them off if we won 1-0 in a scrappy game with a lucky goal! I'd be f**king delighted Edit: The year I turned 19!! Even more of a ****er (Brain not working today!)
This is the one I've been most confidant about. west ham are safe so I think they'll come and have a go which will suit us. Well win 2-0 Haway the lads
Just found this comparison: So Johnson has more goals (7 v 0) & more assists but Downing gets a better rating?? How do they work out the ratings exactly?

This is HUGE. I really, for the first time, will be resigned to the drop if we don't win this. I wish I could come up but can't leave work til 6. Gutted it's moved to Monday night! If you're going, roar them on from the off. Mersin is right we need a fast start and if we score early they won't fancy it
Can't. She's still reeling about my application for a season ticket I didn't discuss with her. See you for Everton though, ticket arrived yesterday.
