Arsenal have confirmed that Barcelona have approached them over a possible deal for Cesc Fabregas. Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood has admitted the Catalan giants have made contact to discuss bringing Fabregas to the Camp Nou. The midfielder is the source of constant speculation linking him with a move back to his homeland, and a similar transfer saga dogged Arsenal last summer. Former Barca youngster Fabregas has made no secret of the fact that he wants to represent his boyhood team at some stage. But Hill-Wood says there has only been preliminary contact from the European champions so far and not a bid. He told the Sunday Mirror: "Yes, they have spoken to us about Cesc. "They have been in touch. But so far they have not made a bid and we do not want to let him go. "But he comes from Barcelona so it is understandable if he wanted to go back. However, they have not made an offer so far." Hill-Wood also insists that the board will be backing Arsene Wenger with money to strengthen the Arsenal squad this summer. "There is money for the manager," he added.
To be honest, this isn't really news. He'll go to Barca one day, but I don't think it will be this summer.
Quite agree. And when he does PISKIE what we have lost? A player who, possibly, doesn't want to play for the Mighty Arse anymore should be shown the door tout suite.
would anyone fancy taken villa in a swap deal ? he looks like he could be on the move , we have replacements in ramsey and wilshere for fab, i think him a RVP would be a great pairing... just a thought
35 million plus Villa and maybe a youth player sounds good to me. song wilshere nasri midfield with Villa RVP and theo the front 3
If we signed him then we would be showing the type of ambition that he would want. Not sure why he would want to leave one of the best teams in history for us though.
I would sell Fabregas and if villa came in as part of a deal then great!! But let im go - it doesnt serve arsenal to have a player (whilst his not demanding a move - like say torres did) who doesnt want to play for us and whose heart lies elsewhere let him go now with our blessing and get £35 million plus for him and maybe some youth players or villa and some cash. we have the players already at arsenal to replace him in wilshere nasri and ramsey
