What the feck do they expect us to do ? Was done before we left London last night. Sadly for Orient they have blown automatic promotion so wont hurt them that much.
I wouldn't have thought Jakupovic would play anyway, do we not have Joe Cracknell who could sit on the bench? Good first team experience for him.
Yes and we also have Mark Oxley on loan @ Oldham. But we need someone better than that as cover. The Jak played very well @ Spurs in the coc game. Jak has been doing well with Orient so at least he is game ready just in case.
Stoke are thugs. Can you imagine Shawdross (typo - but I left it in) and Wilson going up for a corner knowing we have a kid on the bench - Harper would be lucky to get out in one piece.
To be fair, I wouldnt recall him to sit him on the bench. If Harper gets sent off or injured then yes, recall him then. In the meantime I'd get a kid on the bench as part of their development. But maybe that's why I'm not a manager of a Premier League club and Steve Bruce is. Edit - actually I suppose Harper could get sent off / injured in a game and at the same time Jak does exactly the same whilst playing for Orient and then we are screwed. I can see the thinking of 'if he's not playing then he cant get injured himself' safety blaket.
I didn't think Oxley could be recalled, he's on a season long loan. He's currently first choice at Oldham and apparently he's been doing really, really well. Our coaches have been really impressed by his progress and he's been touted as back up to McGregor next year. If Harper were to get injured, then it'll probably be Cracknell on the bench? Jakupovic could probably do a job if he's called upon, he did alright in the Cup, but he's not a long term solution and he'll be gone at the end of the season, probably to Orient.
why would it? Do you mean he couldnt come off the bench? No he couldnt but we'd have a youngster on there and could recall Jak for the next game. Done.
You don't put a rookie on the bench for a game when you are still in a relegation dogfight. If we were safe... Well, then it is still a lot of money per placing so I wouldn't take the risk either.
If the Jak was a kid then I'd agree with you, that we shouldn't hamper his long term development to sit on the bench, but the Jak is an older pro whose as good as he'll ever be, and chances are in Summer he's off. We have to do everything we can to ensure we stay up & win the cup, bringing Eldin back has to be part of that now McGregor's out for christ knows how long!
The gods are going to give us an eccentric goalie for the Cup Final. He'll save a pen or summat and win us the Cup.
The Jak is back. Left field of this thread......but ex. jail bird Gary Madine has gone out on loan today from the Wendies to Carlisle.
Jak left a nice message for the O's fans. ''I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support. It has been an honour and pleasure playing for Leyton Orient. I wish for the team the best of luck for the future. Players and fans...you guys are great!!! Eldin Jakupovic''
I think i'd rather listen to Brucey's presser in the morning rather than some random report with nothing to back it up.
