Ehab puts on a better show than his dad, which is hardly tricky, but his words are essentially just an AA paraphrase, rather than an amplification as such, he rewords the mantra using an admittedly smoother tone and lexicon. But, he’s only impressive if you juxtapose him to AA. That is a key point and reason why we’re hearing from him now. He certainly didn’t seem astute or particularly a good orator when he was interviewed by Burns, who’s hardly Paxman. He flapped and made up figures based on nothing declared – again like AA. A decent journalist (no offence to DB as such but he's not cut out for that side of journalism) would have smashed him to bits. Ehab is reasonably well presented, moderately articulate (fluent in English as opposed AA) and has a fairly warm manner (which is betrayed by his actual words if people properly listened). Rather than the message, it's clearly the presentation, because, as stated, his message is the some. But, some people buy into this presentation hook and line and sadly, it doesn’t surprise me one bit. They are taken in similar to the way a conman would operate (I’m not actually saying he is one by the way) and people love superficial, easy solutions and are hooked into the mainstream superficiality that has infected the majority in this country – personality politics are a good example of this. The Allam’s knew this. Hence why he’s been wheeled out recently. As said, it’s of no surprise to me that people buy it. I would be interested if Mel or another poster could explain further as to why they like Ehab and his sudden contribution; if they can give me a genuinely intelligent and cogent rationale, I’d be very very surprised.
Are we not supposed to break even/make a profit as Hull City this season? There is no evidence it will make us more attractive in the far east. Impartial academics have said there isn't any evidence as well, yet you believe Ehab who has carried out no research. The example of Everton didn't make sense at all. There are no bona fide reasons to do it that have been presented at all.
I disagree LTT. Ehab expressed for the first time (even Burnsey says this) the amount of additional benefit that the Allams believe will come from changing the name. He gave a perfect example, Everton's shirt sponsor does not have a market in the UK and they earn 5 million from it. I had felt in the past that there was no plan and this was just part of an ego trip or at worse a spat with the council. Those may play a part but they are not the lead. We have had posters on using shirt sales as examples that don't work, but there clearly are deals to be done is we have a USP and the fact that the Allams are focusing on that is a positive sign. I dont think that now the sun shines from Ehabs arse, both he and Assem have made errors that are quite frankly horrific, but I now understand the situation better.
It isn't that difficult to discover who has bought into which PL clubs and their motives for doing so. Most of us know which profile foreign investors want - silverware challenging, ideally London, with European silverware in recent memory. Even these clubs find it hard to extract money from the rank and file Far East 'supporters' who have much less leisure money than us. These non European fans tend to be less discerning and will therefore demand winning football, goals galore and silverware. They don't get out of bed for 2-0 v WBA or 1-2 v WHU. As for major investors, some like Mansour or Avramovic want a toy, but most others want a profit (Glazers) or domestic glory in their own country (Tan). AA's name change plan seems to be to try and entice companies or individual to sponsor our shirts ( a £ 2 or 3 million at best?) or to entice them to buy a share of the club (which will only be of value if we make a profit). There are no meaningful modern precedents in changing a club's name and therefore no way of gauging how successful it might be. What is certain is that Hull City as we know it will be finished and once gone, it's final. A local football franchise to be pimped by the Allams and their coalition of sharp-elbowed wideboys, bullshitters, sycophants, yes men and quisings to the undiscerning, the greedy, the tacky and the shameless, will take its place. To be watched, not supported, by any local spineless, clueless, testerone-free, couldn't care less 'footy' goons with no principles or self-respect.
**** thread - You can be a reactionary simpleton all you like but plenty of others waited to digest the ramifications , the arguments and plusses if any and negatives . In the very beginning i was never Pro name change , just the fact i was OK with Allam trying his plan in the view that when it wasnt working we could easilly revert to Hull City . This was last year long before the meeting with the CTWD group (which i joined as member 300 n summat) . The only real grievance ive had with CTWD supporters (not the actual group) is the pack mentality on forums that destroy reasoned argument , It is a REAL turn off !!! I was 100% anti Allam the day he put a threat if he didnt get his way - to me this was the line he crossed when saying all that about nobody tells him how to run a club and his quit threats . THEN he asked for a vote of confidence by supporters with the ballot - when already he dont care what the fans even think :/
Testosterone free you say? Started any threads about what people are wearing for the semi recently? Clown shoe.
Some of us were switched on enough to realise it was all bullshit from day 1 and didn't need months for it to sink in.
Dunno why thats used as a mark of being a man tbh. Sure, if they've been in the fridge they're a bit tough, but a triangular choccy bar from Switzerland is a strange guage of manliness. Not exactly a Yorkie are they?
Lifes decisions arn't based on Mike Reid's "Runaround" show . . g-g-g-g-goooo ! if u really do scoff at the thought of someone taking time to digest the plans (months is a bit of a stretch though) , then yeah good on you backing the right 'oss using blind luck !
There seems a bullying element to the 'No' voters. I voted 'yes' - I believe it was a free vote and that was my opinion. Yet I have been insulted quite a few times. I have been asked 'why ?', called all sorts, insulted by a ex player (and in his own words 'legend', more like old git !) This woman said she was disappointed in me and yes she may have been half joking but what am I going to called next 'scab' ?
I can't believe there are adults our there who still haven't wised up to the reality of the ineptitude of the Allams in all matters other than the manufacture and selling of diesel marine generators, CTWD have shown them a clean pair of heels in putting a message across various media with intelligence and respect. In fact, the exact opposite of the 'Yes to Hull Tampax' brigade. Surely someone in Melton can see that?
You are a traitor to the club. You support the Allam family more than the historic Hull City. I’m sorry, that may sound harsh, and I genuinely bear you no ill (I don’t know you) but I cannot give anyone who voted yes any sort of respect. Is this because they disagree with me? No, I can respect someone who disagrees with and do so providing they have a rationale, evidence, argument etc. But I cannot respect someone who votes yes because it’s a weak, unintelligent vote which isn’t based on any evidence at all. I’ve said on here before, I can forgive stupid and I recognise people have different abilities, are born with different abilities and are nurtured into different abilities. But when stupid is threatening to rip the integrity, history and future of the club I support, based on no evidence whatsoever, that is when I clamp down on stupid.
