They will rip us apart if we play like we did tonight, I would take a 1 0 defeat now but hoping for a 4 0 win

 

I think we should rest our first 11, as the CL is now our only 'slim' hope of salvaging what has been a disastrous season. If we could just pull off a minor miracle in that tournament then everything would be alright again, so we need to rest everyone and make sure there 100% fit for the CL.

The league, and the top 4 have long gone, so the rest of the games may aswell be meaningless end of season friendlies. Obviously we could still make a Europa League spot, but does anyone honestly care about securing a position in that tournament? I personally would rather we weren't in it, as it is only likely to hamper our chances of breaking back into the top 4 next season

It is not a case of giving up, it is pretty much impossible for us to gain anything extra this season by winning league games. Now I'm not saying I want us to lose these games, all I'm saying is that I don't want us to tire our best players out playing league matches the weekend before a CL match. At the moment the CL is our only slight bit of hope we have of getting anything from this season, and it doesn't just affect this season, it will affect next season, and the future of our club. So ofcourse I'd rather we focused solely on the CL.

And before you shoot us down as having no chance, your probably right, but we have to try

I see what you are saying, but shouldn't a team try to win every game, and the best way to get players playing their best, is to play them in competitive games?

Answer to the first bit - surely if there's one thing our players should be, is fit, after all of Moyes training sessions??? That's all he does with them

Re the second bit - agreed! Europa League is ****e. Even the Capital One Cup is more interesting.

 

We do have a big enough squad to cope with the europa league.
