Whilst I feel we are playoff bound (doubt we can drop out of them but we are QPR so can’t rule that out!) it has to be remembered that teams can get complacent with the gap in the table and may feel its job done already. I fear though that will affect us more than Burnley and Leicester as looking back to our promotion season across the last 8 games we only picked up 12 points, Norwich picked up 17 and Swansea 14 from the possible 24 (taking the top 3 teams at the time). Applying that to this year and ceteris paribus it means the table ends up as Burnley 96, Leicester 94 and us on 83. Swansea who were 10 points off 1st but only 1 point off 2nd at the time ended up finishing 4 points off 3rd including the threat off the points deduction hanging over our heads which would have gifted them auto promotion and people are talking of us overhauling a 10 point gap! The one positive from this example is that only Leeds the 5th place team with 8 games to go dropped out of the playoff places and were replaced in 5th by Reading, the remaining three teams all remained in the same positions come the end of the season. My rambling way off saying whilst I’d love us to avoid the tension of the playoffs (by auto promotion) but with those three recent defeats to Brighton, Charlton & Sheffield that’s the way we are headed.
I thought Burnley would run out of steam so fair play to them & Leicester who've both really performed & deserve promotion. With Austin back & not more injuries/suspensions then think we're certainly in with a decent shout in the play-offs & don't think any of the other teams would particularly fancy playing us.
Amazing to think that pre-season Burnley were 50/1 for champions (I wagered $1) and 14/1 for promotion (I wagered $2), to keep my Bet365 account active, that I use for the live streaming of matches.
I predicted Burnley would drop off because of there squad size and with the possibility of injuries. it seems they got lucky with in terms of injuries and proved me wrong, cant complain about that. Leicester are stuttering but I dont think anyone is going to catch the top 2. Whilst i believe it looks like we are destined for the play offs, i certainly am not writing off our chances at leicester. it would be typically QPR to go there and win (as almost at Man Citeh) and then lose to someone lower down. Our players proved against Wigan that we can get up for big games, so like I said, we may (will probably) see leicester crowned champions at some stage soon, I'd still give us a chance against them in a big game. Keep the faith guys (and Girl)
Burnley have done incredibly well and have won over a lot of plaudits and rightly so. If we are to be denied the title by anyone, then I would not mind at all for it to be Burnley. I think they have a good chance now of finishing top as they have a slightly easier run in (if such a thing exists) than ours. I agree that it would be a near miracle for either us or Burnley to implode over the remaining 8 games(9 for us) and lose 1st or 2nd spots. We currently only need to scrape 11 points together from our last 9 games/27 available points and even then QPR have to win every single last game to guarantee promotion sounds so easy, but I wont rest until we see that "P" next to our name! Only then can the celebrations start. Going to be tense!
You are right of course Miami and I'm caught between a rock & hardplace ATM On one hand I want burnley to win on Sat so you two really have to fight it out, but on the other I want Burnley to lose, just to keep that little (minute)glimmer of hope for us of knicking 2nd. Strangers things have happened before, but a loss for you on Sat really doesnt dent your chances TBH. Do us a favour and beat Burnley, then at least we have something to aim at..Cheers
Correct ............... We need Burnley to lose like never before, just like we need Leicester to win. Yes, there are a lot of points to make up but it's football ....................... never underrate the power to surprise.
Well you got your wish. vokes got injured. But then you blew it yet again and fluffed your golden chance to close the gap on Burnley.
