The Telegraph seem to think that we're going to try to sign Lukaku from Chelsea this summer, with rumours of an £18m fee for the Belgian. Sounds fairly unlikely, especially as it wouldn't represent much of a profit for them and they don't like us much. They did sell Sturridge to Liverpool though, so they've made the mistake of strengthening a side that they didn't perceive as a direct rival recently. Good potential signing? Should we look elsewhere?
The best striker we could get in my opinion. The kid is on his way to becoming one of the best strikers in the world. THOUGH, will Chelsea really sell to us? Despite the fact we're derby rivals I highly doubt they've forgotten the Modric saga.
Owned over Modric + the way Sturridge has progressed should mean a no sale unless Spurs offer silly money. IMHO Chelsky should not have loaned him out a second time this season anyway.
Yeah definitely. Torres still can't hit a barn door and Eto'o has only just come into some decent form. Lukaku is like a young Drogba with pace, the kid has an amazing future. I'd happily spend most of the transfer budget on him, providing a bits left over for a new LB. Just can't see Chelsea parting with him, especially to us.
He is not the finished article and Jose only plays or buys players who are at their peak. He ha snot had a great second half to the season, (do loan players ever have a good second half of a season.) I say if you put in a decent offer (18M sounds good) There is a good chance you will get him. Chelsea will need the money to finance a move for whoever the medias flavour of the month is during the summer
I would love to have him. He's still basically a kid, a kid with massive potential though. Scores goals wherever he goes. Very much doubt that Chavski would sell to us though.
Difference between Sturridge & Lukaku is Sturrage was seen as a gamble. there were rumours of a bad attitude, a persistence to play in certain positions and he isn't continental enough to be a Chelsea striker. Lukaku already has a reputation, with one eye on FFP, Chelsea will try to squeeze as much as they can out of you
I'll believe Lukaku will play for Tottenham when I see him run onto the field in a Spurs kit. And maybe not even then. I'm very skeptical that there's anything to this story, TBH. When you don't have a story link someone with Tottenham is a tried and true tactic of pseudo-journalism. I'll bet Mourinho is kicking himself he didn't take Lukaku this season, and won't repeat his mistake next season, whatever he may say. If it's really true that Chelsea now has a budget, and they have to sell him, they won't sell him to us.
I highly rate Lukaku, so does my Chelsea-supporting mate. In fact, my mate cannot understand why Chavs let him out on loan this season and kept Torres! I'd have Lukaku in the side every week, ahead of either Ade or LOLdado. Hopefully, we get shot of Kane this Summer.
Need to off load Sold-a-dudo first. If spurs can get a few million for him come close season,. Lucky Luka Lu might just be what's needed.
