Yes, this is an article posted on Follow Follow, but it's from an article lifted from yesterday's Sunday Times. Who the **** do they think they are exactly? http://forum.followfollow.com/showthread.php?t=714139 Now I know there are a few unsavoury comments which should be ignored, but there are many who correctly point out that the article is absolute ****. Obviously I don't live up there nowadays, but are journalists and politicians afraid to speak out against this pish?
Think I'll give it a pass... have no wish to view anything on followfollow...you got a link from the proper wesite?
Aww **** off, Pope. Didn't expect anything else from you to be honest. As was rather easily pointed out in the article, the author made a complete arse of herself by unwittingly (and factually) pointing out that a sectarian crime was twice as likely to be carried out by a Catholic on the basics of percentages as presented by herself But hey, you carry on with the anti-Rangers ****e
I can see how this thread will go tomorrow when the sites gets busy... please log in to view this image No room for reasond debate on this site... Not read aticle but looked it up on the internet... It got **** all to do with football, so I no idea why any courses are being run by a religious group...surely some organastion like Nil By Mouth would be better to treach tolerance? All this will do is fuel bigotry...the majority of the "old firm" fans that bang n about religion don't practice it - catholics that don't go to mass and protestants that don't visit church clueless cretins!
This kind of action is needed to get rid of this cancer from our society? Really? So by telling some football clubs that it's unacceptable is going to help lower the statistics? Hardly. Don't you think that the problem begins in the home? Do you think that wee Billy and Declan are going to give a flying **** about what's been said when they're ****ed oot their faces on the cheap booze readily available and willing to use a chib? See down here, you don't get The Met going all ballistic about Arsenal fans slagging off The Yids. Similarily, you don't get the hierarchy of the Jewish community pressuring The Met to take action against Arsenal or A.N Other football club who slag off the perceived Jewish faith of the Spurs supporters. The Catholic Church is one of worst for it. Why can't a Protestant teacher get a job at a Catholic School even if their C.V is far superior to the others infront of the board?
I believe that we shouldn't have "seperate schools" for different religions - that's where bigotry/sectaranism starts... Had this arguement with many "catholics" - what about Muslim schools (dead against it of course!). Schools should teach every religion to allow children to form an independant opion. Problem is tho - arseholes like you point out BH - they bang on and on about religion and hating "fenians/organge bastards", so their spawn belive this to be the correct way to go about life! These attitudes are also bred at the orange walks/hibs walks - something else that should be removed from civilised modern society (along with religion).
BH, i'm afraid when you use Hollow Hollow as a source then any reasonable debate is rendered null and void. As can clearly be seen the place (FF) is hoaching with bigots, the sad part is that they do not know they are bigots. Bigots are like that.
Dev - The article is from the Sunday Times and is NOT one created by a poster on Follow Follow. It has merely been posted on there verbatim from The Sunday Times and is therefore NOT null and void
That article says the victims are 66% Catholic. How can it be that the crimes are more likely to be carried out by Catholics or am I mising something?
Just click on the link, Dev. Don't worry, you won't be indoctrinated into any rolled up troosers and dodgy handshakes. It's there right infront of you on the first post. A screenshot of the actual article as it appeared in The Times yesterday
The lads on FF seem to think that this training is to be carried out solely by Priests and they have ran with that (and how), anyone who can read and who is intelligent enough to see past the headline will understand that Priests are but one element of this proposed "Training", in fact the training is to be offered to all faiths unless I miss my mark? As a man who considers himself to be an aetheist I would politely refuse if offered it but I would not be offended t be asked to take part unlike our pals on FF. It is not compulsory. As you say and I agree, bigotry is learnt at home of from your peer group, schools have nothing to do with promoting bigotry but that fact is lost on the FF boys. That's why I think their input is less than worthless. Bigots beget bigots.
I dont think Follow Follow are the issue here as the article was posted in the Sunday times. Good timing on the part of the Catholic church ( not ) but in any case are they so shallow that they believe all sectarianism to be anti Catholic ? If this is indeed the case then they live in an entirely different world from the rest of us.. Sectarianism in football is no different to that shown at home or at work - its still sectarianism ! Why dont the Catholic church take their message to the local authorities in and around Glasgow. Im sure they would have their work cut out trying to re-educate these ****ing neanderthals. Or does that not suit their agenda of one way sectarianism. Should they not be spreading the gospel of tolerance through their teachings/sermons or does not not fit in with the their position of being the victim By all means let the Churches speak to football clubs about sectarianism but let ALL churches join in the debate. I am probably the least religious person on here but the Catholic church are indeed in danger of looking like a tawdry bunch of hypocrites. P.S Pope . With the bile being spewed by elements of your support and indeed playing staff perhaps Aberdeen should be the Church's first port of call. P.P.s Completely agree pud that with the current set up of schools and the continued support of the the Orange ludge tossers we are no nearer to becoming a grown up society.
BH I am missing these statistics. There are none in that article and I cannot find anything online to say catholics are committing most of these crimes. Do you have a link as I would be interested in that?
please log in to view this image if only I could post this on FF. I feel it may enliven the "debate " somewhat.
