Sky Sports News. Massimo Cellino disqualified from buying Leeds United under football leagues owners and directors test. Has 14 days to appeal. Seems to have been due to him being found guilty of tax fraud.
I think this decission is the right one - not often the football authority's get it right, so well done to them. Apparently Millwall CEO Andy Ambler had the casting vote
Typical Football League bullshit. Leeds bought by a crook or a bunch of incompetent arabs with no money? Go ahead. A guy with a large personal fortune and willing to invest? Absolutely not. Don't want Leeds escaping to the Premier League do we. Quite clearly, an entirely self-serving, biased decision. C'mon Cellino, get your son or daughter down as owner!
As per, the football league can go fk emselves. A panel made up of other owners, some of which are in the same league. Then they wait the full 10 days and have a meeting on the last night (fkin Sunday) before making a decision. Laughable, it really is.
Are you sure about that TC, or are you talking out of your a$$? As far as i'm aware, Oyston was on that panel for starters...
The bastards at the FL would not have done this to any other club , they wont rest till leeds are finished.
Errrr TC, here's your 8 The current members of The Football League Board are: Greg Clarke (Chairman) Richard Bowker CBE (Independent Director) Andy Ambler (Millwall) Keith Lamb (Middlesbrough) Karl Oyston (Blackpool) John Nixon (Carlisle United) James Rodwell (Notts County) Ian Lenagan (Oxford United) And before you start owner/club representative, its the same story, their club has a personal interest in the outcome. Turkeys voting for Christmas!
No, Bates was too smart for that. And the so-called tax fraud was an import duty on a yacht that was registered elsewhere. The Italian authorities are hardly paragons of virtue either.
I know I'll get abuse for this and I'm not wanting to pour salt on an open sore, but I think some of you need to rethink your view of the past instead of trying to play the victim and talk as though the FL do you down. Had the FL stuck to the rules, they could have ended the club a few years back, but instead, they gave a points penalty. Good luck with getting this sorted.
Give over with this blaming the FL ****. Blame Cellino for being a crook and blame GFH for being so determined to sell to him. Get one thing right, they weren't selling to him because they thought it was the best deal for Leeds United. I'd like to see proof of both of these, please. And he can't get his children to buy the club as he would be acting as a shadow director, and would still need to pass the test. Typical f**king Leeds fans, would rather cover their ears and yell at the football league than admit who's really to blame.
Come on TC, you're more intelligent than that. As you can clearly read, i don't give a fk if they're owners or just the clubs representative, its irrelevant, as either way they have an personal interest in the outcome, especially the 3 from the same league. It should be a completely independent panel. Am i surprised by the outcome? No Would it have been different with a completely independent? Probably not, but it should be independent, its laughable the way its run. Do i think there are dodgier owners in this league and other leagues than Cellino? Yep, and thats why it grates.
Can we all now just agree that David Haigh is a cretin? If Farnan now does anything other than table a proper comparable bid than Cellino was proposing then he will IMO be as big a scumbag as Bates ever was. The FL have done us over, but to be fair I can see exactly why they refused him. They should have done it weeks ago in all honesty.
To be fair: 1. I was never convinced Cellino was right for our club, 2. Objectively, the FL have made the right decision - how can someone who has been founf guilty of tax evasion be passed to become an owner/director of a club? 3. While we can all agree that Harvey being involved in the process was blatantly wrong, hard to find fault with the FL on the decision. May be a blessing in disguise. Let's see what happens next. Marching on together!
Agree with everything you say there Jonny, the gripe I have with the FL over this is that the decision took so long coming (conspiracy: pushing potential admin to hurt us next season rather than this ).
