Both games they've had a late long-range goal from outside the box in a position Morgan would normally be covering. Deja-vu.
He was OK first half when the team as a whole were good but I thought he disappeared 2nd half. For sure, if Wanyama had been on the bench he'd have been substituted. But in defence of Cork, I would say the same as people were saying about Wanyama after his injury, that he didn't really look match fit. I suspect that if there had been any alternative, he wouldn't have played today. Also, we need to score more goals when we are on top. I have never seen a game where we had so much space in the 'centre forward' area (if that makes sense). Spurs' centre backs were so far apart in the first half it was a gift. Unfortunately, we got caught offside too often and weren't as clinical as we could have been.
Pochettino: We were masters of our own downfall - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...st-tottenham-hotspur-southampton-1439186.aspx
The biggest thing a loss like this shows is we have no depth at all. We have no players to come on and change the game. When player is having a poor game bar a few positions we have no one to take his place.
Yeah, it kind of says something when, when everyone is fit, the majority of your decent quality options are central midfielders.
It was a game of two halves. In the first half, we played our game - pressed them, they lose the ball, we score. In the second half they played our game - pressed us, we lose the ball, they score. To quote someone 'it's as simple as that' No 7
Our defence has looked so vulnerable in the last few weeks and we have had some dire spells against Sunderland and Spurs. I think Sigurdsson used the space that was left unoccupied as we had only Cork as a sitting midfielder but what I cannot understand is how our defence has gone from solid to fairly porous without the personnel changing. Headers, backpasses and lack of strength have caused us to concede a lot of poor goals in recent games.
Can't disagree with any of that. 2 individual errors cost us the game overall. Other than that, the first half performance at WHL was excellent and I can't be too down about it. Or do we think we should be trouncing Spurs away? Not until we add a couple of players. I don't remember us spending over £100 million in the summer. Spurs did.
Just went to look at the table over the past ten games - it's been a while since I last looked. My perception was that we've been poor overall recently but I was rather shocked by our position in the "last ten games" league. Warning: it won't include today... http://weekendfootball.co.uk/analysis/form.asp?l=1&season=14&formtype=&gamescount=10 Never in a month of Sundays would I have guessed 4th place. Vin
30 minutes of the game was very good, 60 minutes of the game, we were average to poor. Who said anything about trouncing Spurs or expecting to? We were 2-0 up and threw it away, that's bad football whether you are playing champions league or park football.
If he has to go anywhere, please can it be Liverpool. I love watching them. Or Arsenal? Chamberlain, Lallana, Walcott...
United don't need Lallana, they are pretty loaded in the attacking midfield, it is what is playing behind them that is the problem.
