I think Levy is deadly serious, this time. His statement was as unequivocal as you can get. At present, i.e. this summer, there is no way Levy can go back on a statement as clearly, and strongly worded, as that. As to the future, who knows? we'll have to wait and see. IMO, Modric is not the sort of character to throw a tantrum, or go on strike. However, if he comes out and clearly states that he does not wish to play for Spurs - then maybe Levy will have to think again.
Honestly, I now think it more likely he will than I did the other day. That said, it's far from over yet.
Typical clueless Goon. Berbatov went on strike and then did a runner when he was supposed to be going to City. With the complete lack of backing from the PL or FA, what was he supposed to do? Keep a player that was on strike and risk the situation that Forest had with van Hooijdonk, which they still haven't recovered from or take £30.75m and try to rebuild? It's not even a choice, in my opinion.
How obsessed with an opposition team do you have to be to have a quote from their manager as your sig? Sad.

I thought it was just your way of describing yourself to the world. Anyone who spends more time obsessing about their rivals than they do on their own team is clearly an attention deprived child. 'Look at me! Look at me! Please look at me!' Embarrassing.
mabbut says we should sell him and move on. meanwhile , chelski are said to be about to offer essien and summat for him now. this is going to go on and on.
If Chelsea make further contact over Modric we should just be totally unreasonable with them. Can you report rival clubs for harassment if they keep calling?
I think that Levy is so pissed off with the Chavs over the classless way they have behaved, that they have virtually zero chance of getting Levy to agree any deal for Modric at the moment. I repeat, if you read Levys' statement, there is no way he can go back on that this summer without losing all credibility.
Tottenham will be offered midfielder Michael Essien as Chelsea step up their attempts to prise Luka Modric away from them. The Blues have already had a £22 million bid rejected and will now return with a player-plus-cash deal that would seen Ghanaian midfielder Essien move to White Hart Lane, Metro reports. The part-exchange offer is being prepared despite firm assertions from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy saying the wantaway midfielder is 'not for sale at any price'. Spurs have been rocked by Modric's suggestions that he wants to leave for a 'bigger club' and that Stamford Bridge is his preferred destination this summer. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp ridiculed the initial £22million bid for Modric, claiming that players sold for similar amounts this summer "aren't fit to lace his boots". Modric told the Daily Mail: "I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club. "I have an arrangement with the chairman. When I signed my new contract, he said that, if another club came to sign me, they would consider the offer. "Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner. They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League." But Levy has put out a statement reiterating his intention to keep the Croatian at the club despite the Blues' overtures. He said: "I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer. "We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that. "In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club. "We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public. "For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations whatsoever, with any club, regarding Luka. "We now consider this matter closed."
Well they won't offer their best players will they? Incidentally exactly who are their best players now anyway?
Absolute garbage!! Levys' statement was crystal clear and unequivocal. There is absolutely no way he can sell Modric at this present time without losing all credibility. Why, oh why, do people persist with this nonsense. As Levy quite clearly stated, "we now consider the matter to be closed"
