Febbo what's your thoughts on DIF playing at the Tele2 Arena now instead of Stadion? What's the atmosphere like?
That's pretty much what I was going to type, apart from the Dunfermline bit obviously... If you live right next to another club and you go there regularly, it doesn't put that club in your head and heart, it's just going to enjoy a football game. Plenty of other teams I "keep an eye out for" because I associate them with mates from over the years, but I could never actually support another team,
Does no one else 'support' English teams for a night, say in a European cup final or whatever? I always want the English teams to win, even Man U.
I always want the English teams to lose, but this is purely a response to the hyperbole we're always given about 'best league in the world' despite not one single element that backs this up. On the OP, most will know I support 2 teams but I agree with the point about not supporting 2 from the same country. That's a bit weird.
Good point. I guess as I also would be behind them and wanting them to win, for that one night, I am supporting them, although I wouldn't consider myself as a supporter of them, if that makes sense.
I only support Hull City. But I follow a few teams results. Peterhead (I've family from there), AFC Wimbledon(a real club) and North Ferriby(local). I support all English teams in Europe.
My sibling supports Man City and Hull City. My nephew Arsenal and Hull City. Me just Hull City. Not a problem, Live and let live I say.
I'm afraid that I haven't been to Tele 2 Arena yet. I've been living in the UK for the last 2-3 years and do not longer live in Stockholm, so haven't really had any good opportunities to go and any games I don't that we're sharing it, but not much we can do I guess. I'll always have "Stadion" in my heart. What team do you support in Sweden? I'm afraid that that the Mod will ban any AIK fans for life, so think about this!
I've not heard a pundit this year say this is the best league in the world, i've not heard it for a while. I want every English team to win, even if its just to improve our coefficent giving Hull City (however unlikely from league qualification) a bigger chance of getting into Europe.
More complicated than this. If we still have to play them then generally keep 'em in Europe based on the 'it'll tire them out for the weekend game principle. Similarly if they still have to play a team below us, but not us, then get them out of Europe so they'll be more focused to take points off our relegation rivals. It's got nowt to do with supporting them however. Just pure pragmatism.
Depends on where they come from, if originally from London and have moved up here to work, then I can understand it. When I was in Aberdeen I used to go and watch Aberdeen just to see live football. But I never changed from being a Hull City supporter, and if I was leaving the match in Aberdeen and had been to the game with my son, who sometimes came up and went to a game with me, we would probably talk about City's result rather than the game we just watched.
I watch out for a few results because of my friends supporting them, namely Walsall, York, Lincoln and Ferriby. But I'd never dream of supporting anybody other than Hull City.
I know that this is a different debate but I completely disagree with you about the league. Just because Bayern/Dortmund/Barca/Madrid etc. are better than our top teams doesn't mean we don't have the best league. What other top leagues are as unpredictable as the Prem this season? Four teams could win it, another 5 fighting for Europe and about 8 could go down. La liga is often unwatchable due to the ridiculous diving as seen in the Madrid derby a few weeks ago and Munich have already won their league. It's not as if the gap in quality is even that huge. An in form Man City without injuries could give any of the aforementioned teams a good game.
