Jones has won 59 per cent of his duels with attackers this season, with Vidic slightly better on 64 per cent. Those figures are not that high. Moyes needs someone he knows can triumph over the opposition more often than not.
As surprising as it may sound, Steve Bruce's capture of Curtis Davies for Hull has been one of the signings of the season.
    Player Clearances Interceptions
    C. Davies 226 77
    N. Vidic 202 37
    C. Smalling 144 19
    J. Evans 127 21
    R. Ferdinand 62 15
    P. Jones 105 40
Davies has won 66 per cent of his duels - remember, he's playing against the same forwards week in, week out as United's defence in a weaker side. He wins a duel every 11.56 minutes in the Premier League.
He's also made an incredible 226 clearances to avert danger to Hull's goalmouth and 77 interceptions - both of these would put him as United's top defender in these categories.
Despite his Hull side losing 2-0 to Manchester City last weekend, his heat map shows how in control he was in defence.
If the deal was to come off, it would be interesting to see how Davies' England prospects improve.

I bet he'd get an England callup if he did go there.

it would be bad for City to lose CD - but i would never begrudge such a move (though ManUtd have about the same chance as City do at playing CL football the following season )for a top bloke and top player even though we have only had him one season

I would expect a pay rise would stop that. Manchester United don't pay well outside the stars and we should pay him what he's worth. He could do well in his final playing years here and be offered a job when he stops playing. I can't see him leaving while Bruce is here.

Great player and a top bloke. I would be gutted if he left so let's hope City put all their effort into keeping him at the club should an offer be made. However, Man United would just be a sideways step nowadays.

    Davies is immense. ****ing immense.

You don't need statistics to know that he'd walk into Manu's back four.

How he hasn't had an England call up is beyond me. It just shows what a holy incompetent **** up Woy's selection methods are.

    Bloody pilchard.

As one of the few on here who was advocating signing Davies when some thought Hobbs was far better it doesnt surprise me. Saying that he needs to work on his left foot, its like a shovel.

10 million should do it, first bit of Mr A getting his money back.

Davies is an absolute rock week in and week out and would be an asset to any side, I really hope we can keep him though but if he gets the chance at one of the top clubs then good luck to the lad

I think it says more about the state of Man United than the quality of their targets when they're linked with Kasper and Curtis.

No chance would they have wanted them last season, they're well and truly beginning the mending process.

West Brom fan telling me walking out the ground that they don't rate him.
I was still laughing at the idiot as he waddled off towards Paragon Station.

Agree with AKCJ & Erik. That's if it does happen.

They have money to buy better players than Davies.

100% would. Which is just an utter crock of ****e. He's rapidly become my favorite player and I thought he was immense today, again. How he's not in the England squad is just baffling.
