Certainly not going backwards. We are in exactly the same position we have been every other year since we got relgated from the Prem, other than the years in Lg1, where we are clearly doing better. And because the season is over yet we must still get enough points to guarantee safety - always the first port of call, and the last thing we want to do is give up on even that. Then next season is what we build for. Always said this would take a few years - and the age of the side out there today shows that is exactly what McD is trying to build. Those kids won't be overnight sensations, but they will get better with time and experience. It may not happen next year either. But I fully expect us to be challenging strongly the year after. It always had ot be a long-term strategy, because every year we have had a short term strategy and look where it has led us - exactly where we are! What's that about expecting different results from doing the same things over and over again? Aiming to win the GP but failing is fine - demanding we win in a 10yo Lada is cuckoo. Building a supreme race car takes time - but you do have to build it or pay through the nose for someone else to hand it over, and the latter aint gonna happen

I agree, if you are Chelsea, Man City or Real Madrid/Barca. But we're not, and I can't see Cellino just throwing money at it, along with FFP. So I think we are in the mould of building the car slowly, like Swansea did. As for the old Ladas, that's what we have had in the past with our short term demands, and I perceive that McD is doing something different and bringing in young kids who need time to grow. That was also based on GFH not having much money. If the business model changes, and Cellino has the money of Abramovich, we may do what you are saying. I just don't see it. I do think he will get rid of McDermott though, and if he does, I think that will be short-sighted and if he doens't have Roman's dosh, he will be as successful with us as Bates was
Ffp has ruined the whole thing anyway, Those that are in are in,now it is very difficult to bridge the gap, The likes of citeh and chelski, who just spent and spent, That is not possible now. Us ,leicester,qpr etc will find it very difficult to break into the top flight. Money,sky,FFP has ****ed the whole thing up.
No problem with us not agreeing at all. Not convinced on the theory of bringing in young lads for the future though. Great if they have genuine ability and we already have a good team in place. First job has to be to assemble a quality team now. Sure, work away in the background developing youths. We all know the reason were signing cheap or free young lads. No money and in the slim hope of unearthing a couple of gems. Well likely go through dozens as usual to find anything worthwhile in the long run
