I give you Chelsea v Barcelona - 2012, i and many others wrote them off to get to the final, i said Barcelona will get to the final but i was wrong, Chelsea won the semi-final and the final as well, i'm not saying we'll beat Bayern but we stand a chance against them.
That's the spirit, you WILL go to the ball!! The only problem (and I will be rooting for you) is that those Chelsea players had been fine tuned to play such a way in such an occasion, were under the guidance of a new manager with fresh ideas and, whilst playing well, had the luck of the all the irish in both semi finals and the final that year (no disrespect to chelsea, they played very well but every star was alligned). United would need to enjoy similar degrees of luck, whilst fielding a team that has been spanked in just about every game they have played against a top 4 team this year, with a manager and a dressing room severely lacking in confidence (beating olympiakos was good, but wait and see what happens against city...) and a set of players who have spent the last 10 years playing generally attacking performances under the most inspirational man manager ever... Dont get me wrong I really do want you to surprise everybody, but it is very difficult to make any logical footballing argument for any result other than a comfortable Bayern win over two legs.... You are right though - its a funny old game. If United, in the form you are in with the season you have had, manage to beat bayern over two legs without all of bayern's team succumbing to mystery injuries between now and then, they will builld a statue of david moyes to sit right next to that fergie one before the season's out!!
Again this nonsense after a win, against Championship level opposition might I add. The shock was not beating them 3 0 the shock was them beating you 2 0 I'm going for a 5-2 Bayern win over two legs
How is it nonsense, I was only saying that People are being premature to put Bayern in the semi-final of the champions league.
It's never a given that you qualify, I am saying maybe some reality should be in order as United have lost or drew with every even half decent side they have played this season Arsenal at home apart. You are about to play the best team in Europe.
yes and you know that you haven't been able to beat any half decent team this season, except a usual bottle job by Arsenal at OT. If it was a one off game I'd give you a decent chance, but over two legs, can't see it, Bayern are on good form too.
You can't see it, you are just hoping, how can you see it? Tell me how it will be possible for your rabble to overcome the best team in Europe over 2 legs? Defence leaking, Forwards misfiring, midfield headless. You think Giggs will bail you out?
It would be a concern if United had ANYTHING that has shown they can win it, they have not all season, in fact have not looked even remotely like winning the CL since the last final they were in.
You know, someone once said something that is appropriate for this moment now... A lot of worried people on here...
Correct. I'd give you a much better chance on paper than on the pitch right now! On paper, a strike force of rooney and van persie, with Carrick in midfield, Plus the likes of kagawa, nani, valencia, fletcher, cleverley etc supporting, with a decent back 4 and top class keeper would have a respectable chance of upsetting bayern. As you correctly say, it is not played on paper. And on the pitch, that set of players is having their worst season ever. I am not writing you off. Just saying that if you went to the bookies right now you would get unbelievable odds on a united win over two legs. and for a very good reason...
Easy money really, why don't everyone put a whole month's wage on United losing both games..... Oh yeah, thats right, you don't have the bull........
