Nugent, Derbyshire, Maynard, Waghorn, Vassell, Howard That seems fine to me but i would sell Howard and get another target man
I've always liked Derbyshire as a player...i for one wouldn't mind him coming, but he certinaly wouldn't be first choice.
He still has 2years on his contract in Greece so obviously he will command a fee. Surely that money could be better spent elsewhere...?
Matt Derbyshire scored alot of goals for Blackburn when he first broke through so he does have ability. Its about getting him to play to his ability which im sure Sven could do. But talks are early days as he is on hoilday with the Gallaghers
Matt Derbyshire has been hit and miss to say the least in the PREMIER LEAGUE. In the Championship I'm sure he could do a decent job and it would be cost efficient as he wouldn't require a big fee or high wages. As a squad player excellent and I'd fancy him to get 10-15 goals a season likewise Nugent. Then we might have the 20+ of someone like Maynard and people like King who are full of goals from midfield. A strike-force of: Maynard Nugent Derbyshire Vassell Schlupp Howard would be more than good enough for this league.
Dont forget Waghorn. I would send Schlupp out on a season long loan if we sign Nugent, Derbyshire and Maynard
I think Waghorn will be sold and (I say this reluctantly) that might be best for all parties because he won't be happy at not playing and he won't play ahead of Maynard, Nugent or Derbyshire so we don't want an unhappy player and we will cash in and cut our losses on him when the demand is high from teams like Derby so we'll probably get a higher price. He just isn't consistent or composed enough for Sven. On Schlupp, Sven spoke a lot last season of how his experience on loan last season would help him this season, indicating that loaning him again isn't at the forefront of his mind right now. I actually think he'll be used as a winger more than a central striker.
Agree with this, I think that lot would be good enough. It's all hinging on us getting Maynard or someone of similar quality though. As much sas I think Nugent and Derbyshire will do a decent job I can't see either of them leading the line for an automatic promotion side.
The good thing with both Waghorn and Vassell if we need them to they could revert as wingers. While i dont rate Vassell as a winger he would do as a last resort on bringing someone on for the last 10 minutes. Same with Waghorn. It depends what Waghorn we get weather he has a future. If we get the Waghorn we had on loan then he does have a very big future for us but if we get the Waghorn of last season i think he will go out on loan or be sold
