Oh, the poor soul. Shola is getting frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities.
Not as frustrated as we get watching him, the big useless .............

Shola Ameobi admits that he is growing increasingly frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at Newcastle United this season.

The 32-year-old has only started 10 games in the Premier League in 2013-14, with the last coming in the 3-0 defeat to rivals Sunderland at the start of February.

Ameobi – the club’s longest-serving player – came off the bench against Fulham.

This season – Ameobi’s 14th as a first-team player at Newcastle – is expected to be his last at St James’s Park, with his contract running out at the end of the campaign.

Ameobi’s lack of goals – he is yet to find the net in the current league campaign – may be behind Alan Pardew’s decision to leave him out, while the form of Loic Remy has also played a part.

Remy is Newcastle’s leading scorer with 13, while Yoan Gouffran has hit six, but Ameobi still believes he has qualities that can aid Newcastle in the remaining nine games.

“It’s frustrating for me, but I just have to bide my time,” Ameobi told the Shields Gazette. “I’ve loved my time in Newcastle, no more so than when I’m playing.

“I just want to help the team. When that doesn’t happen, it’s frustrating.”

With 304 appearences, 51 goals, an average of 0.167 goals per game you would think that Shola would wind his neck in, as a "Striker" he has hardly returned the faith and money received over such a long career at Newcastle, never the most intelligent of football players as he constantly found himself offside, commited too many silly fouls and never seemed to put much energy into his game, I once saw his movement described as languid, I presume the author of the article didn't wish to use Lazy. If it was me I would dump him off the bench now and give some of the youngsters a run out as the season winds up, better to look at the future than the past and you never know someone might actually score a goal.

Shola, I love you with all my heart and soul, but the sooner you become curator of a hat museum on Mars, the better...

I take it no one will be signing the petition doing the rounds then; <laugh>

'Can Mike Ashley Please Give Shola Ameobi a new FIVE Year Contract'.

    Signed................

If Tom Cleverley can get 15,000+ signatures banning him from the WC, think how many signatories Shola would get begging that he gets a new contract from Mikey (50,000+ maybe). <ok>

It seems as though I missed part of the petition title.

    Should have been:

'Can Mike Ashley Please Give Shola Ameobi a new FIVE Year Contract
as a cleaner at the Sports Direct store at the Team Valley, Gateshead.

    Signed

    Apologies for the confusion................
