This is the 10th time the two clubs have been paired together for an opening League match since Spurs joined the Football League in 1908 - twice as many times as any other club Spurs have faced in an opening League game.

    1984-85 FLD1 A W 4-1
    2002-03 PREM A D 2-2

We haven't lost an opening League game to Everton since the First World War started.

I think you'll find there have been a few transfers since then. Maybe none of the WW1 starting 11 will be playing next season?

Good first game for us, but then a tough next 2. Our season start is by no means nicest i can remember. We've got a good post Christmas run though, Norwich (A) on Boxing Day, Swansea (A) on New Years Eve, and West Brom (H) on the 2nd. Fairly easy run in as well for the first time in a couple of seasons

At the moment all the matches are only on paper and that's all they are. City and Utd appear tough but both could easily suffer an early season loss of form and we could take advantage. On the other hand so could we. We cannot yet say what is and what isn't tough until we see the teams perform and therefore gauge their form. I hope that makes sense. Shut up United States. WBA might start like a whirlwind and so they become tough and Chelsea might slump and so they become easy. At the moment it's all up for grabs. And shut up again United states(Michigan)
