.......It's a fight for tenth and we may just about to peak with a good , healthy team . I like our chances to turn a lot of peoples heads , again ........
I sincerely hope so roof, it could be a blessing to have a couple of the top sides next to give us a bump start. You never know although one of them is our bogey team
Nothing lasts for ever so why should our failure to beat Everton continue , this could be the game that finishes one hoodoo and puts us back on track ,fingers crossed
We've had the worst luck trying to steer our team through an injury riddled , three pronged competetion attack and did well up till Christmas . Now were out of 2 of those competetion with a reasonably heathy and fit team all in 1 basket. I expect the the team to come out flying these last games regardless of who they play and get the better of most. 17points from here for 46 total. I base most of this off of the players wanting to prove themselves as a whole , healthy and fit team.
Well,I beg to differ. It IS a relegation battle, and we've been in it for some time now. Many regulars on here have been living in a "we're too good to go down" world, but the raw reality is here. If proof were needed, just look at the last two matches against so called "easy" teams. With Crystal Palace and WBA giving lie to the claims that they would be "easy" opposition. The reality turned out to be the complete opposite, with Swansea City being "easy" opposition for them. A zero points return from the next two games will be catastrophic,as the "easy" teams who come next will be licking their chops at the prospect of playing us.
Nobody every really said "Easy " teams like you've been going on about for some time vetch , I think people said "easier " teams . Like West brum being easier than say Chelsea , regardless of the outcome . It's only now that we may have a healthy and fit team again. After these two game , EASIER teams will follow for a bit lol.Im sure if anyone said easy teams , its was comparing them to hard teams
I seem to remember the word "easy" being used a lot roof, and it was being used in a very dismissive, and disrespectful manner.I felt. In light of the ease with which teams around us are dealing with our style of play,I find a great deal of humour in the contradiction, which is why I keep referring to it. I really do wish posters wouldn't harp on about injuries/healthy player's,etc. ALL teams suffer in that way. It's just a cop out. The reality,I feel,is that the team/squad simply are not good enough.
Not all teams have a squad as small as ours and have a run of games such as ours , but yes they're behind now so no more excuses , the team/manager need to put up or shut up now ,sound bites won't win us points but a positive attitude and a desire to win will.
Only remember it being used in a "Hard vs Easy " an explainational way . Like Laudrup facing the Hardest teams , sacked , then the team facing easier teams . Like Chelsea compared to West Brum, doesn't mean we can't beat Chelsea or lose to West Brum , just that chances are the West Brum game Should be an easier fixture for us rather than Chelsea.
Matthew, the Club chose to go with a smaller squad than others, and if true, then must suffer any consequences. Making excuses subsequently, just smacks of bad sportsmanship, being sore losers, etc. Roof, your interpretation has much merit, but I just see it in a different light. No big deal, but I just love the irony.
When does a reason become an excuse or vice versa ? ,the decision to have a smaller squad I believe was Laudrups' and if the favoured opinion of Huw is correct then that would be a decision fully endorsed by the Board , why pay out in excessive wages on players who will only be considered bit part players ,the shortfall of additional players would be made up by the U21's who are already of the payroll but with the exception of Donnelly no one from that squad played for the 1st team, although admittedly a few were on the bench for a couple of games during the height of our injury problems. There are many "excuses" why we have so far failed to reach the heights of last season , individually perhaps not enough to justify our current position but collectively then they all contribute to where we are now.
