    Down Royal bumper

    Riviera Sun 9/4

Ran 4th on debut 5 lengths behind the Cheltenham Festival bumper 2nd Shaneshill and 3 lengths behind Joshua Lane (3rd in Champion bumper). The third that day, Wounded Warrior, beat another Mullins champion bumper runner, Killultagh Vic on his next start and won his debut hurdle. The 5th won his next bumper at Punchestown.

That's the strongest bumper I've seen this season bar the big one last week in terms of strength in depth. You've got to take into consideration it's been a long time since it last ran and Henry doesn't win bumpers often so I'm not on for much but realistically a reproduction of his run LTO should win this.

Morning, crew. LAMPS really should provide the county with another winner in the claimer at Southwell this afternoon (3.40). Won off 125 back in January and then a seller, by 23 lengths, this day week at Taunton. Somewhat surprised to see odds as big as 15/8 currently being shouted re old boy Lamps.

Horses to take out of Cheltenham, people. KENTUCKY HYDEN was a revelation in the Triumph and I can’t wait to see him over the big ‘uns next term and if CHAMPAGNE FEVER isn’t a CGC winner in waiting then I’m a Chinaman.

    Good luck all.

dunno if anyone else got a text today saying Wonder Weapon 2.50 Kempton would not be beat. to be honest not even sure who it came from...must be something I signed up to last week but seems like a lot of others must have got it or know something about it anyway because it's been Backed from opening of 9/2 into 6/4 favourite now. I got it at 5/2 this morning and put what was left in my online account on it and because it shortened so much I went out of work (yes I'm working paddy's day...disaster! ) and went to ladbrokes, William hill and eventually coral before I could even get a price on it...

Apparently it's "beating 90 rated horses at home and has at least 2 stone in hand today and WILL WIN".

If it does then I hope I get more of these messages!

Also for me is Bog Warrior 3.15 Down Royal. Can be prone to errors but I had it backed ante post for small stakes for the Gold Cup because I was so taken with his performance when i saw him in the flesh and hope today is a going day for him! 15/8 does for me anyway !

Rocky elson looks massive at 11/2 , rocky has had a few good runs at 12f and has been nipped in the last furlong so the drop to 11f looks very wise . Reflect looks like the one to watch out for so could be worth an rf.

It really does show that British racing might as well just be first past the post. The winner impeded the second and third, and both were stopped by some degree in their runs. Did you see the head on angle with how SC ran up the hill? Worse than one of the drunks running for a train at Cheltenham Spa on Wednesday (cough stick cough)

Have not watched the Gold Cup back, once was more than enough. Have to say id rather Lord Windermere won than the other two, at least he is a decent class horse who you could make a case for if coming back to form and fulfilling his potential, Giant Bolster is a villain and On His Own is a full blown handicapper.

It was the head on angle that made a complete mockery of the decision for me. Completely agree with you Nass.

The decision was fair. The way I saw it, SC caused all the trouble, first knocking Bobsworth out (although wouldn't have won) then veering across the course towards LW. LW shied away, the most natural thing to do when another horse is careering towards one. Jockey had his whip in his right hand to keep LW as straight as possible. There was a minor bump which caused LW as much a problem as it did the second. Overall, the most inconvenienced horse in the race was LW and therefore the best horse won. It would have been a travesty had the positions been reversed.

I don't understand how you come to the conclusion Ron. But no matter. The race stays as is.

Never in a million years. I guess you think the Crimea vote is fair too <laugh> . SC was behind the three when he swerved violently right.

Nass, I understand how unlucky connections (and backers) of the second must feel. But take another look and you might see what I mean. Regardless of our differing views on the decision, LW shies away from SC; SC didn't have to be in front to cause that. I know that would have no bearing on the decision but it was sufficient for me to believe that LW would have been just as unlucky to have lost the race.

But as Bob says, nothing anyone can do about it now so probably best forgotten. It's not something I would argue over anyway as I can see where you are both coming from; we just saw it differently, but it's irrelevant now.

I wouldn't have a clue about the Crimea vote; didn't even know there was one.
