Indeed true, rereading that story it sounds very much like the agent is trying to flog him to the HDM.
Apart from McCartney they weren't all THAT bad just they never had any cover from the central midfield. Kilkenny can make a smart pass, but I would have to disagree with Hutch's friends and say Johnson was a far better player than Kilkenny. His problem was a different matter but he got stuck in, wasn't afraid to tackle and was still capable of providing good passes. Do not misunderstand me, he was by no means amazing either, but in games where Johnson was out it was far more aparent than when Kilkenny was out. They can do a job in the midfield, altho I think Johnson is better at left back, but I'd expect there are players who provide the same elements while not being completely useless at essential stuff, like tackling.
Some players can be accomodated even if they cant tackle, as long as you have the defensive support behind them of a holding midfielder and a strong back four, if City do sign Kilkenny and NP see's him as the link between attack and midfield with say Evans and Mckenna mopping up and feeding him , then the tackling aint really an issue. Smart passes are one of our top prioritys, if this lad can make them then id say its a good signing for us. Depends what your team needs.
That's the thing though, he doesn't make that many smart passes. Snodgrass is far better at making smart passes, and is faster at doing it. If we didn't need Snodgrass on the wing so damn much he'd make a cracking centre mid. Kilkenny will make the odd smart pass but the truth is he wants too much time on the ball and he slows the pace of the game down. Great, if you can hold onto the ball. Kilkenny struggles with that because he's slow and not very strong. We drew at home to Reading because when Kilkenny came on he killed the pace and killed the pressure we were piling on.
We finished 11th and Harper was ****e. Don't all fans do this though? It's just part of the football banter.
johnson did score a great goal at elland road against us didnt he?....sorry i mean for us....hahahaha
Was he chuffing 'eckers like. We were heading for the drop before Harper and Ashbee came back into the team. His form fell away so NP binned him but he was far from ****e. Are you suggesting we weren't play-off contenders? Because that's unarguable. Not that it normally stops you.
Harper was and is utter ****e. Harper had as much to do with our slight upturn in form as pirates do with global warming. We were near the play-offs, but genuine contenders? Not really.
I don't rate evans that highly tbh. In terms of footballing ability I think that cairney is a much etter player as he is capable of picking a pass and can produce a moment of magic. If his attitude was better and he worked harder to improve his game he'd easily be one of our first choice centre mids and evans wouldn't be near the first team imo.
totally agree. Why are we being constantly linked with centre midfield players? Real or imagined because agents know we are in the market for them as we were piss poor there last season.
If Nigel can get the best out of Kilkenny we'll have a great player on our hands. At the moment he's a good player, works hard, can pass and tackle well. Nothing special like Danns, but he's a good player to have in the centre of the park.
