2011/2012 Premiership title is going to be a very tough one, possibly the hardest since the premiership began. Contenders and pretenders: 1.Manchester United. 2.Chelsea 3.Manchester City. 4.Arsenal 5.Tottenham 6.Liverpool 1.Who are the contenders.? 2.Who are the pretenders.? Most of the club above are going to the market to strenghten their squad. There is no doubt that the champion for 2011/2012 is going to be from the above. Can it be from the club that is yet to win the premiership title.?
Top 3 contenders, the rest, not really pretenders, just people I don't think have what it takes. Could be proven wrong though...
Good question I think United can in the last third of the season as ever. All depends on who Chelsea buy, and Arsenal keep. There doesnt seem to be much talk of City. They now have a realy good squad, have gelled, and have also tasted success. I reckon they could be a good outside bet for the title.
If City lose Tevez, then they have a chance of the top four, but thats about it,as Balotelli and Dzeko certainly won't get the goals to win them the title.Plus Lescott is useless.
You could say you do have a "sort" of financial problem. It's just that your's included Wenger's willingness to not spend money, when we didn't have money to spend.
I think that Wenger is better than Benitez at making good signings with relatively little money. He is not good enough to put forward a title challenge with that budget but is good enough to stay in the top 4. We will find out if I am wrong I guess.
I can't disgree on the whole with your contention about the difference between Benitez and Wenger in signings. The worry for you and for Wenger himself is how far is he willing to change his philosophy in his purchase decisions. I also worry that another season like the last one could be injurous for his health a la Gerrad Houllier - and that's not something that I would wish on any manager (even ferguson).
I don't think City will drop places, i think they can only stay the same or move onward as a team. There's no going backward for them. I also have to wonder why people are dismissing Chelsea. They've had manager trouble ever since mourinho left, but they've still consistently challenged. Even when they dipped after the wilkins sacking they mounted a late charge for the title.
Nice metaphor, but if hiddink is put in charge, i remember what they were like under him. And it would have strolled the season last year.
I don't think Chelsea will ever truly be a force in Europe or Britain until they get rid of their owner. He obviously wants more control over the affairs of the club than the manager has, which makes me think any self respecting manager would tell him to stuff his job. If they want to be truly successful - get in a long term manager, give him a wad of cash and tell him to build his squad.
Chelsea's model was built on short-term success. They are plastic in every way. There is going to be one outcome and one outcome only. When Man Uniteds inevitable demise happens. They will enter a period of decline,However they won't fall as far as they did the last time, theres a reason for it.When Ferguson retires they will do something incredibly stupid. They will try to appoint another Ferguson. This will leave the door open for a sustained period of Liverpool domination.Kenny will lay the foundations by returning Liverpool to their throne, and then its going to kick off.
Agree with you on the united thing the dimise will happen and prob around the time Fergie calls it a day Chelsea's owner will get fed up with the club once he is gone that big money pocket gone If the 2 things above happen it will be between LFC and Man city With Liverpool getting the titles and getting our crown back IKWT
Top 2 will be Man Utd and Chelsea, it will be between Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool for 3rd, 4th and 5th. I'm not often wrong with my title predictions!
