I've taken the liberty of selecting a handful of quotes from the recent discussion but there were plenty more. Lewis Hamilton is a very sincere person and I believe his comments were well-intended. As many others have suggested, I think what he said has been skewed by the media and it is a source of great sadness to me that when anyone is widely recognised, they must give extra (and unnaturally careful) consideration about potential spin and public interpretation. Trying to consider all 'out-of-context' possibilities whilst at the same time giving an honest and heart-felt response is a very difficult thing. I would like to think that most discerning people will see beneath the surface, and not allow their opinion to be tweaked so easily.- - -o0o- - - I want to add that although I've not been around very much recently here in not606, in my opinion, the following is one of the most destructive, perhaps most deliberately inflammatory comments I've seen in a decent quality F1 forum for a very long time: Back on topic, let's hope Herr Schumacher continues to show signs of progress, however gradual it may be…
Whilst that's true, I think it's a credit to the rest of our membership that it went practically ignored, and hasn't managed to derail the thread. No forum (especially one without a single focus) is ever going to 100% eliminate stupid comments, it's how they're responded to that's the sign of a quality forum.
I completely agree, DHC. I thought about not mentioning it at all – as well as thinking about saying exactly what you've just said in response to me. One way or another, it's a sign of the quality of this place relative to most… Cheers.
It annoys me when people try to bring religion into matters like this. Science and medicine will cure MSC, not religious hokey-pokey.
I reckon Schumacher is recovering better than we think. Look at this interview, Sabine is chilled. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=741638405860515&set=vb.188194354538259&type=2&theater
Yep, so long as any recovery isn't called a miracle or act of God, and the medical assistance he has received gets the full credit it deserves.
Maybe they're planning a top gear kind of who's under the helmet, oh look it's Michael and he's okay!
Now why couldn't Sky do something about this on the pre show rather than the British thing all the time?
Schumacher has 'conscious moments' - agent Breaking news F1 champion Michael Schumacher is showing "moments of consciousness" after months in a coma, his agent has said. Sabine Kehm said in a statement to the media that he was "making progress", adding: "We remain optimistic." Doctors in France have been working to bring the seven-time champion out of a medically induced coma. The 45-year-old German suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December.
wow good news indeed. This story has been a bumpy ride. The last I heard was his wife forked out 10 million for a private medical suite at their house so they could bring him home. I wonder what they mean by conscious moments?
It could be a multitude of things ranging from actual communication to just signs of being aware of surroundings. Clearly the hope is it will be the former.
