For all his ability I think this lad is bad news. He's just another Nile Ranger surely?

    http://www.footballdirectnews.com/p...-leading-race-for-midfielder.php#.UyQqKPl_vuo

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is determined to win the race for West Ham United's England under-21 star Ravel Morrison.
Pardew was keen on the player before he was signed by the Londoners and has been keeping an eye on his progress ever since.

The midfield ace - currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers - looks certain to leave east London this summer and as reported by [football] direct news is strongly fancied by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
However, the Irishman wants to ensure that his temperament is 100 per cent before making a move and that has put Pardew at the head of the queue.
The Toon boss has no such reservations in his mind and will tell the player exactly that, knowing he's a man who responds to that sort of belief and understanding.
The Hammers however, may have to accept that with only a year left on his contract, Morrison will leave for around £3-£4 million but will insist on a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
A source close to Morrison told us: "Alan loves him - has no reservations about him - and is determined not to miss out twice.

Has the talent and if someone can sort out his attitude there's a team will benefit from having him, worth the risk.

Basically this goes back to what I was saying the other day. The only way we will get most top class players is if they come with baggage. I'm not sure it would work out with Morrison and I wasn't keen at all when he left Man U. However I don't think having seen him, we could turn our nose up at that kind of talent. Sometimes they come off, sometimes (like HBA) it won't. I'd probably take the risk.

The likes of Dyer and Bellamy were complete bell ends but I'd still have signed them.

young, English and talented for a good price.

Lots of baggage but weight up the risk and the benefits. Every summer teams spend millions on players from abroad many of whom don't pan out as good purchases, is he more of a risk than a player who is good in another league but has never played in England? If he wants to come and Pardew wants to have him then its a good risk in my view.

He's young, English and a creative attacking midfielder.

Can't really understand what people are worried about in terms of his 'baggage'?

He's no different in those terms to any other young footballer at the top level - they have everything they want, far too much money, little respect for others and have immature egos - it's no more a gamble than West Ham or QPR have taken in signing him.

If the deal is likely to be cheap, then that puts us right in the frame. Although if his fee will be low, you get the feeling someone else will offer more wages.

Will this young lad fancy the North East instead of London? (I realise he's from Manchester) I have my doubts, but wouldn't dismiss it just yet.

To be fair he is a much bigger twat than your average twat of a young footballer. I'd still take him though. Absolute knob end but we've had them before and will do again. That's modern footballers in the main.

Perhaps that's true of Ravel, but I think the only reason his 'attitude' has been polarised is because he came away from Manchester United.

Clearly a top talent, and one that Ashley could easily sell-on for a profit in a season or two - I think this link may even have 'legs' :)

I think he's massively over-rated personally. I mean, I can see why people like him, he looks decent on youtube with his flicks and tricks, but he's cack time and time again in games. He goes missing, and he's hardly excelled in his last two clubs, at all, and they have been West Ham and QPR... To be fair, if you can't stand out technically there, you are the kind of the garbage that'll probably make our team!!! <laugh>

He is a talented player but obviously a risk.
If you could take him on loan rather than permanent, he would be be a good signing for you.

Definitely have him here, he's exciting. Have him on a contract that can sack him without compensation if he f*cks up.

If he was all that, one of the bigger boys would have been knocking on the door for him by now.

Maybe AB but there are plenty of instances of the big boys leaving players because they don't need to take a risk or feel they have plenty of cover in that position.

Generally your point is a fair one though.

I expect better from you ACS. If he gets Pardewed, he will end up a better player, plying his trade for one of yewropes biggest clubs like Kebab.
