Obviously it was a disappointing game for us yesterday but it was a great day of football (and sport in general).

Plenty of talking points. The Villa/Chelsea game was a great watch with plenty of incident. Great finish by Delph. The sending off of Willian was comical. The first booking was fair enough but the 2nd as soft as they come. Ramires stamp was a horror and a cowardly act. You then had Agbonlahor (subbed by this point) coming off the bench to grab him round the neck. Jose on the pitch at one point to have a bit craic with the ref <laugh> Then he was off to the stands too.

Makes for an interesting title race. Now Citeh can afford to lose a game in hand and still go top. They themselves did well yesterday to win despite being down to 10 men for most of the game. Dzeko looked in ridiculous form, put a terrific shift in. Controversy in that game too as Hart had a Pardew moment, and Boyd being loosely accused of spitting at him. I wasn't convinced he meant it. ****ty dive from Boyd, ****ty reaction from Hart. Silva's goal was a beauty. He was lucky to escape punishment for his high foot on Meylers head (its always in the game <laugh>). Elmohamady showed his mackem spirit with a nasty looking tackle. All in all a pretty eventful game.

The rest of the title contenders are in action today, really is wide open.

The relegation battle took another few twists. Magath and Mel got first wins which gave Fulham hope, West Brom breathing space. The unwashed once again failed to take 3 points from a home game with a direct rival. Still in touch but if they don't start scoring in the 6 pointers, they are gone. The away games left look tough. Still wide open and Cardiff gave it a good go with Everton. It is still any from 12th down but it would be surprising if Hull or West Ham checked out. Carroll bagged on his return for West Ham but things just got gradually worse thereafter as Stoke won 3-1. Start of an important run for Carroll if he has England hopes. His direct rival for a slot Ricky Lambert also found the net in a 4-2 win over Norwich. Their home game next week v Sunderland a massive game. Chris knows how to deal with the unwashed and they probably need to as they have some tough games left.

    An interesting day.

Interesting point that this is only a yellow card, so the FA can't do anything more #copout

But the ref dealt with Pards too so surely they can still take action................................

Honestly all 3 were fairly minor incidents. Obviously Pards is viewed differently as a manager by most. There were loads of incidents yesterday which put the furore over Pards in perspective.

if the ref has dealt with it on the pitch it is classed as dealt with
even if the outcome (yellow card) was wrong
it only can be reviewed if the ref misses the incident or the player gets a red card and the player appeals the red card
hence our appeal for Remy, which he lost

they pick and chose what they want #facopout

Yesterday was a bad day for the mackems. Not only did they fail to beat palace but some of their relegation rivals picked up precious wins. I think the next seven games will seal their fate, six of these are very losable.

Despite our loss yesterday I'm still glowing <warm glow copyright>

Only good thing about yesterday was that Fulham gained 2 pts on the Macks.

Watched some of yesterdays highlights and have to say how disgusted I am with the standard of refereeing in the country. For Howard Webb to put his whistle to his mouth for a free kick and change his mind is disgraceful and the fact Fulham score made it even worse. If he can't see that handball then the guy shouldn't be referee as he has poor eye sight, think he might have been lying to Carver. Then I see Stoke v West Ham where the Stoke player punches the ball and the referee tells Andy Carroll it didn't hit the hand. As for the Chelsea game that performance from Foy was dreadful.

    Really?

West Brom got three vital points, Palace one and both Villa and Stoke won to make them virtually safe.

Didn't know there was any highlights yesterday.

I do think that all refs should have regular eye tests though, some of them seem to miss an awful lot of incidents. Webb being one of the worst offenders.

Refs had a shocking day as Cbrad says. Webb was lucky Chris Foy decided to go hard for "pissflap of the weekend" award. Strangely the linesmen made some cracking decisions yesterday?

Proper game this Man U/Liverpool. Monster tackles going in from the start. Gerrard getting some stick from the crowd, responded by going through a few tackles. Clattenburg now trying to calm everything down, pack in you twat, the tackle was back for 10mins there!

Man U getting mauled. One down to Gerrard pen but could be more. Liverpool giving them a football lesson.

Gerrard scored with two and missed a third for his hat trick.

How much longer do you think your name sake has left?

Pool looking like being involved in the mix for the title.
