HOw many penalties have we not been given this season? It has got to the point now where I laugh and dont bother appealing. it is beyond a joke, and seeing the amount of charitable at best penalties being given to the teams higher up the league makes it more infuriating. I can see it already, Liverpool will be awarded a penalty against us next week after a small amount of contact, the entire match of the day studio will discuss how there was 'contact' and therefore a penalty was justified, handily ignoring the absolute abundance of assaults that have been waved away unpunished in our opponents' areas all seasons....

Why is there not more publicity to this blatant and obvious unfairness?

Must be said - if we dont stay in the prem this will be far from the only reason why, but its bloomin infuriating....

The incident where Zaha became the filling in a sandwich looked like a pen all day from where I was. That would have been 2-1 (if it was converted) with 5ish minutes left.

Just watched match choice. Definite pen and 2 of the most unlucky goals you could concede.

Ole played a blinder IMO. We set up right, subs changed the game, and we got shafted. Performances like that at Brom, Sunderland and saints will give us a chance.

Get a grip, it was never a pen, Distin had his back turned to him ffs.

As for unlucky, it'd have been a cricket score if not for Marshall, you got what you deserved - f**k all

Agree with this. 4-1 to Everton would have been a true reflection of the game. Marshall again saved us from getting thrashed.

The lukaku save and the other deflection were very good saves. The others I'd expect any PL goalie to make. We got a great keeper, what's everyone's problem with? Are Liverpool lucky when their world class strikers win tight games?

If you think he had his back turned you've obviously not watched it properly, so get your facts right first. He puts his leg completely across Zaha's path. It was a pen.

I will agree if we played without a keeper we'd have lost more heavily though..............FFS.

Truth lies somewhere in between for me. I think Everton deserved the victory but we were certainly a little bit unlucky ourselves. Still not entirely sure about the penalty to be honest. Regardless, we still don't look like scoring. 3 shots on target....

If Marshal keeps up his heroics, Cardiff will do enough to remain up imo .Law of average says Cardiff will get their lucky breaks soon . Marshal was truely unconscious on some of those stops yesterday, incredible!

One of those shots was FC one on one from 14 yards. Definitely should have scored, I'm sure we might have mentioned something like that previously this season.

    Yup.

Everton were clearly the better outfit, the same as at Spurs who were far slicker than us, but it can't be denied that for the type of gameplan Ole set out, we deserved something from both games. Yes, Everton should have won if the games are decided on "quality on the pitch", but they're not - they're decided by hitting the back of the net more times than the other team.

When setting your stall out that way, the sort of chance that Campbell failed to put away yesterday doesn't come to often and it needs to be buried when it does.

The lack of an out and out finisher will be by far and away the main factor for our possible/probable failure this season.

Utter bollocks. Zaha was looking for it, Distin never stuck a foot out, never a penalty

Marshall did great, it's what he's paid for sure, but he kept you in the game - fact

Coleman got lucky with the shot, but on the balance of play and chances created you can't moan about leaving with nothing IMO.

Good luck for the rest of the season, very good away support btw <ok>

Marshall has been playing like that all season, it's no surprise to those who watch him regularly, but to the untrained eye it must seem he had the game of the season, just another the day at the office for him though.
It's hard to take anyone serious when they say Zaha being bodychecked wasn't a penalty, either having a laugh or hasn't quite got the hang of football yet.

Doesn't matter, it's a loss and thats how it is.
Good setup by Ole, times running out but he is getting a lot of things right, we need a bit of luck though if we are to survive, we could do with those around us failing as well.

As an add, I don't recall us conceding a penalty thus far.

    Correct SB.

And there lies another problem. We had the best disciplinary record in the division (not sure where yesterday's 3 bookings leaves us, certainly no worse than second best).

We are in a dogfight ffs. We should be getting in opponents, faces, spitting, snarling and kicking anything that moves. However, we seem a very nice, well disciplined side. I don't think that is what we need right now.

Just to back up my comments, after yesterday we have received 38 yellows and no reds. An average of 1.3 yellows per game. Palace were on 36 yellows but had another 4 yesterday and they have had 2 reds.

We have conceded 276 free kicks, bettered only by the Swans at 273 and Arsenal at 263 before they play Spurs today - guaranteed to be a large increase on that figure. Also, those teams have conceded 2 & 3 penalties respectively to our none.

Why do the big sides always seem to get the better of decisions against us? Because they put officials under so much pressure both in terms of having to make more decisions against them and then verbal and physical (to a certain extent) in influencing those decisions. Those teams who have been around the Prem a while know this and how to play the game to their advantage. Okay there are exceptions like Chelsea at Villa yesterday but they only seek to prove the rule as they are publicly noted as exceptions.

We are too nice. We don't make officials make decisions often enough against us so it is easier for them to decide against giving crucial decisions for us. They are only human after all and it is human nature to "balance the books". Howard Webb has made a career out of it.

I appreciate my post could come across as bitter, and maybe I didnt make my point clearly enough.

Everton were deserved winners, marhsall had a stormer again and the scoreline was more than fair to us.

My point was more specfic than that and not aimed as a dig at you.

For an example of the point I am making - the second penalty liverpool have just been awared. I will state categorically, based on the evidence of more than 10 similar incidents this year, that there is no way cardiff would have been awarded a penalty for that incident were it us in liverpools situation.

It might be natural, it might be big team big game pressure, i dont know. Im just fed up of watching incidents like that go unpunished for us...

See Liverpool's third penalty too. Never was, Sturridge dived and Vidic got red.

Nothing for us to worry about next Saturday then? <yikes>

Tobes, just looking at your footer. If you're supported by people from the area, why were there 4 people sat be hind me in with the Everton fans shouting for Everton but speaking Welsh? Also, the 3 I went to the game with weren't from Liverpool and have never lived closer to the ground than 30 miles.

A good club with a good following, but don't be so sanctimonious.
