Not really irrelevant. Altidore did more in his first five minutes than Fletcher did in his 45. we automatically play higher up the pitch and get the ball in dangerous areas.

How Poyet sees anything in Larsson is beyond me.

We need Scocco fit, to at least see if he has the goods, and we need AJ & Ki to rediscover some form.

Fletcher & Jozy are utter pipe, give Borini a run till Scocco is ready as a CF, those 2 won't score goals, Fletch needs a massive break to get fit.

We never looked like we were gonna score at any point today, but let's be positive, Palace, as any Pulis side, were well organized.

We missed at rick not bombarding them down both sides after both their full backs were booked early doors, but it's a point, against a team in decent form, and I'm not any more concerned than I was this morning.

Most annoying for me was WBA winning, that's massive for the bottom 8 as they looked in freefall.

Altidore at CB? He has the goal scoring record for the role.

for me...we had to win this one...but....we didn't. Our games in hand include, Liverpool and Man City...unless we stuff Norwich, I think its game up.

Stats say we had 19 shots with only 2 on target, that's utter pap by anyone's standards mate.

Like I said, I never saw it so they could all have been from long range or whatever.

I'm sick and tired of being let down after these MUST WIN games! It was the same last season under o neill before he got the tin tack! Its not as though the opposition outplay us and deserve to win or pick up a point, its the fact that we are performing so badly against mediocre sides! Why aren't our players up to it in these type of games! They cant seem to handle it when they're expected to take the game to the opposition!

Didn't watch the game, but, sky said this of Fletcher: "Really poor taken off at half-time" and this of Altidore: "Did well, improved things".

I can't remember a good game Fletcher has had this season? The Newcastle game maybe?

Hopefully Borini will finish the season up top, but if Poyet wants to play Borini on the wing, for me it HAS to be Altidore up top..

Your not alone. Every year we pick points up against teams we don't expect to beat, but we never beat those around us

This is a sure sign of folk thinking they are better than they are, as such raising themselves in games when they feel they are outclassed.

This kind of mentality will fail you in any walk of life, but Gus will sort it out in the summer.

There were a few on here yesterday / today saying a draw wouldn't be a disaster. And they're right, it's not.

The simple fact is that when those teams around us come to us they'll be happy with a draw because they're above us and will play deep and make us break them down, knowing we don't really have the quality to do that. So these "winnable" home games are going to be ****ing hard.

Having said that, I think we can still pick up points away. I think 36 will be enough. That's 3/4 wins in the next 11 games plus a few draws. It would be easy to be over emotional and say we're ****ed, and we might still be. But we've still got 11 games left and there will be 1 or 2 more twists yet still to come.

And if we do go down? Well, after the start we had that shouldn't be a shock. At least Gus got us into a position to at least give us a chance. And none of us truly thought we'd still be in with a shout of staying up last September / October, did we?

Its as if the players are expecting to claw their way out of it, but that will start at the next game! Well they're running out of games! Yes we are a poor side, but so are the teams around us, so why cant we beat the buggers, especially when they dont particularly play well either! I could have handled it if Palace played well and deserved at least a point. But when the opposition play badly and we dont even look like capitalising, then thats a sign of a team neck deep in ****!

As you said, today was not a disaster.

1. Kept a clean sheet.
2. Kept ten men on the park <cool>
3. Kept in touch of Palace who have the hardest run in of any Club.

And I agree, there are a lot of twists to come.

The Westbrom result was a bummer.

Dear Sunderland Fans,

We were the team who were going for the win from the first minute, we didn’t have a negative plan we just wanted to win the game.

For a moment there was a feeling that a goal was coming, as it was all Sunderland, but then I’m not sure what happened – maybe tired legs – but the game became stretched and a lot more open.

Overall, I can tell you that we tried our best.

Crystal Palace came here and they made it very difficult for us. We were missing that bit of quality and I know we keep saying this, but if we keep working hard it will come.

We need to take the formula we used today and keep going, make it difficult for teams and take every game as it comes.

You did think a goal was coming, that’s how it felt. There were one or two chances and it just didn’t happen. [Fabio] Borini was inches away.

We showed everybody that we’re up for the fight and we care a lot for the football club.

The support was magnificent and the fans stuck with the players; it was a real help to them.

We need to make sure we stick together whatever the result is; at the end of the day we are all in this together.

After a result like we’ve had today, where we deserved to win but didn’t, we need to go into our next game and get something from there to make this point a good one.

All the best,
Gus Poyet

But we didn't score with either of our formations today, they are not good enough, we need a set up without either Fletch or Jozy as both are woeful and we are running out of time, our options are limited but a rethink is vital if we are to survive. I agree about Larson by the way, I don't know what he brings to the table.

Palace had no interest in winning the game, which means we should have pressed hard, we didn't.

We have enough quality in the admittedly not good enough squad to be winning these kind of games, we'll get over the line, but we need to rip the midfield to pieces for me, and add 2 CB's, a RB, and a genuine quality striker (I personally believe Scocco is one, but we need 2).

The squad isn't a write off, and losing Seb & Gardners wages will open up a massive pot for wages, Seb will be on a fortune as a Bosman signing.
