Very true, even 4-2 shows Norwich to have made a fight of it, but the reality is somewhat different. Saints were streets ahead in just about every department, although their goalie is dodgy as they come.
So two weeks ago games in hand could put us in the relegation zone, last week they couldn't, now this week they can again. Whatever you think of Hughton, we need to Carrow Road to be right behind the team when we play WBA and Sunderland. Those two games will decide our season. On a more positive note, good to see Adel Gaifaiti has gone on loan to Oldham, more game time for our youngsters hopefully.
2 goals simply paper over the cracks. Glad Elmander scored as should give him some confidence, but Hughton has to go. We were still terrible and one good minute does not make up for 89 awful ones. We can't get worse, although at least we might have some fight. For the record, I thought it was made that RVW would score the equaliser. Maybe if it wasn't for Tettey's slip...
I am really scared those two late goals will save him. Dump him now and give the job to Adams. It really is our only hope. And even if we go down, I don't care. At least we won't have any more of his anti-football, of his 'oh my god we might lose 2-0 so let's play to lose 1-0'. Look at how the other relegation candidates fought today and how we capitulated.
We didn't capitulate, they were just streets ahead of us. If anyone capitulated it was Southampton. We didn't deserve to come anywhere close to drawing that game yet almost did. I hope the board aren't blinded by two lucky goals. I also wouldn't give the job to Adams, but offer Malkay an 18 month contract. I think he'd accept that.
Not Malky. Look at the way Cardiff parked the bus when they came to us. We moan about being too defensive, but in my opinion, Malky would be just as bad.
God knows who should get the job. But Adams for the last eight games. He cannot possibly be worse than Hughton and who knows he might be much better. We really must sack Hughton tomorrow. If not, we might as well accept that we will be playing championship football next season.
I agree with what you're saying, but not sure that'd necessarily be a bad thing. We've got the players to play a defensive style, there's no point bringing in a manager wanting to play an expansive style, it won't work. Bringing in Malky will unite the whole of Carrow Road, and perhaps bring some confidence, which appears to be Hughton's main flaws right now. If we did still go down, then at least he's as well qualified as Hughton to get us back up. If we survive, replacing him in the summer could be tricky though. Adams and/or Hucks would be as bad as giving Gunn the job.
Sunderland seems to be experiencing a bit of a cup hangover...beat them next weekend and one of Swans/WBA/Fulham and you'll go into that hellish final stretch with a pretty comfortable cushion. Best of luck, guys; like most Saints fans, I'm hoping to see you again next year.
