has to be Jake Hessenthaler's superb strike tonight against Coventry City. The ball seem to take forever to come down and trying to judge where it was going to go from the Medway Stand seemed an eternity. Clips the underside of the crossbar and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL - nice reaction by the lads as well to bury him under a sea of bodies. Off to a standing ovation. Anyone seen my mate Lenny?
just grabbed this off twitter...what a strike...
Could always start a thread like they did on the Sunderland board brb. Did he intend to do that or was he just trying to cross the ball? Got to say though, if that had been scored in PL game or from abroad, you would never hear the end of it. Sadly, in a couple of days time - if that - most people will will have forgotten about it.
I scored a great goal for my Sunday league team, it deflected off my backside from 20 yards. Awesome. Probably a goal of the season contender but I'm not sure Sky was covering the game.
LENNY the main man, hey fella how's you doing? Look at that wonder goal strike gif by the youth of our team Jake Hessenthaler, I produced a copy just for you so you can watch it over and over again mate Was you there Lenny did you see it, did you stand up and cheer, you loved it really didn't you, I can tell...is that a smile eh Lenny? ps. would members mind if i sticky this thread, I know we have lots of stickies but i would like to leave a permanent reminder for Lenny, just in case he is ever feeling down and needs something to brighten up his day < joking >
It is defiantly between Jake Hessenthaler's goal against Coventry City last night and Cody McDonald's goal against Walsall for Goal Of The Season, who knows maybe we will see a even more spectacular goal scored by one of our players away at Bradford City this weekend.
To me the main aspects that stood out for Hessy's goal was it was done with composure and while he was under some pressure from an opposition player. Yes, you can argue it was an open goal but even the backward tracking opposition goalkeeper let alone anyone else never considered he would be able to produce such a precise strike from the distance. It seemed to hang in the air forever, reality seeming slower than any TV replay. To be honest I think even if the keeper had been on his line, the height of the ball and closeness of the dropping looping shot to the crossbar would have required extraordinary ability from the keeper to produce a save. We were already on our feet think that CMD would get round the keeper - when it went back to Jake it was clear from where we are in the Medway stand that a lob was on the cards - a couple of people bellowed hit it - and he did! I fully expected it to end up on top of the net! Great goal and one I enjoyed all the more as both the little sparks were there with me! Let's see much more of Hess junior (BTW where's Dack?)
I really don't know what all the fuss is about. An unnecessary goal at a time when they should have had 10 men behind the ball protecting the lead and ensuring the 3 points were secure, not taking chances going forward. Not the mention that it looks like a lucky deflection actually took it in. This opinion has ABSOLUTELY NORTHING to do with the fact that the goal deprived me of a further 7 points in the prediction league. Well, maybe it has, and if I'm 7 points short of a victory at the end of the season I'll be coming after Hessenthaler and demanding his head on a stick.
