We are promoted simple as. No way are Derby, QPR or any other club going to catch us. Burnley at the minute still can so it's just the promotion thread for now and not the champions thread Rules here are no steady eddies. Just pure snobbery that we're better then everyone else Queenie MIND THAT GAP
Can't believe we could hit 80 points on Sat. When have things ever been this straight forward? Anyway, let's hope we do beat Blackpool. Let's make things official ASAP.
Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is relieved his side do not have to play Leicester again this season, saying: "Thank f*** for that." The 54-year-old was magnanimous in defeat, admitting the Tykes had been thoroughly outclassed before backing Leicester to achieve promotion. "By far they are the best team in this division by a country mile, in my opinion," he said. "They're class, they're a good team to watch and I'm slightly jealous in one respect because they've got some quality players there. "It's coming together for them now. They're a Premiership team in the waiting; it's only a matter of time."
Totally agree Proud. It's all over we are up, woo hoo If we beat Blackpool at home on Saturday and Derby lose away at Reading we will be a MASSIVE 18 points ahead of them.!!!! Even with QPR beating Yeovil ( and that's no certainty ) they would move to 3rd with a Derby loss but still they would be 17 points away. God it's great to have so much breathing space to enjoy the run in. Not used to such a luxury being a city fan. What a great summer it's going to be with the excitement of looking forward to the new season in the Premier League and also the World Cup. If Carlsberg did summers........
Been a while since I've posted.... the pessimistic side of being an LCFC fan has started to evaporate after tonight's result. Still, until I see the 'P' sign instead of our position on the standings, I'll still be like a kid in the back of a car, "our we nearly there yet?"
Any ounce of doubt has gone now. Promotion will happen But there is still work to be done for the title. Should Burnley fail to win tomorrow it will give them a mountain the climb though
Even I am(almost) saying we are up now. I never like to gloat until it is official, but 3 more wins will be enough and with the fixtures we have left, that should be a formality. One thing I will say though is, the Burnley away game is now irrelevant as far as I'm concerned
... didn't I read somewhere something like "Proud comes before a fall" ..?? ... hope you haven't shot us in the foot
@henrywinter: Toughened by last season's lessons, #lcfc have taken 38 points from 42, scoring 33, as they hurtle towards PL. Nugent/Vardy unstoppable
Im in the belief that we are all but promoted now, not only would we need to lose more games in the last quarter of the season than we have all season, but teams like Derby and QPR would need to win 90% of their remaining games. I'll happily stick my neck out from this point in and say that we are going to get promoted, not as champions maybe, but we are defiantly looking at premier league football next season Someone said it on the radio yesterday that we are averaging something like 2.25 points per game and that if we keep it up, we would finish on 104 points, the record i think Reading getting 106 points in 2005-2006, so lets up our game and aim for that
Only 17 points Macca. But when our "crumble" happens, and DQPR win every game because they are the best team, we will look foolish, and have to bow to their superior team.
Yes, it is an absolute joke that they are being made to play at this level. They do have some Champions League quality players to be fair, like Assou-Ekotto World-class that bloke, which is why he chose to go to DQPR, obviously...
Reading fan in peace. You Foxes are in much the same position us Reading fans were in back in 2006. Everyone was telling us, because of the points advantage we had, that promotion was assured, and most of us wouldn't let ourselves believe it. But you are assured it, not only are you 15 points clear of the third placed club, with a game in hand, but you are in great form. We're obviously watching with great interest because of the 106 point record. We've held that record for eight years but its there to be broken. Leicester are the first club, over that period, to put themselves in with a chance of beating it. I know thats not the priority, but it would put the icing on the cake. Obviously I don't want you to beat it, but if you do it will be deserved absolutely. Good luck for your run in.
I don't personally think we will get the record, think that although Pearson will want to win each game, once we are statistically promoted with that © next to our name, i think the players will take their foot off the gas a bit, maybe draw some we should win. I'd like to think they'd go for it, but if we keep the current seasons form (as in WDL ratio) for the last quarter of the season, we will W8 D2 L2, which will be 1 win short of the record on 103. This is the most optimistic output for me, personally i'd be happy with 90 points! We've still got yourselves, Brighton, Wigan, QPR and Burnley to play near the top. I think you guys will make the playoffs, you definatly are known for being the late runners, and you've got a good head start this year
Personally I'm not sure that we're even going to be champions, bloody Burnley just don't seem to be able to stop winning. It does seem a little ridiculous, considering where we were at the beginning of the season (anyone remember how bad pre-season was?) that I'll be upset with finishing second.
