This first race is been billed as a match up between Red Sherlock and Faugheen. The English love this Red Sherlock, whose currently unbeaten. I doubt he'll beat Rathvinden today, never mind the favourite. Revised weights, better ground Rathvinden has the beating of him. Wish I'd backed him 16/1 each-way when I put him up on another thread here! Faugheen's currently 7-4 with Bet365. That's a 'decent' price, as he should be that to come off the bridle. I see another Mullins 1-2 on the cards. Well done those on the nice Faugheen prices, I've 11-2, and 9-2 as I did think he could go AB as his win Christmas time was over 3 miles in heavy so I held fire for a while. Ballycasey's currently 8-1 with B365. That's too big a price. I'm in each way at that. If there's one horse who could be a cut above them, it's him. The Champion Chase is a rubbish race. Kind of hope Sire de Grugy routs them as he's the only one deserving of being called a Champion Chaser in my view. Everyone's righting him off due to the track and ground, maybe there right. It's trappy and I'll watch just. Coral Cup, good luck with that Big Shu backed for cross country. Shaneshill in the bumper. 7/1 I think he wins, but the last time I backed the bumper winner Big Brother was a family member! Alll about Faugheen. People seem to love it when a horse like this gets beat. I think they'll be quiet today at 1.45pm.
Good morning all , hope you are all well woke up to a nice healthy balance on my account thanks to my NBA treble coming in hope some of you was on it was my biggest bet so far , Can anyone tell me a bit about BALLYALTON in the first today , was given this a few days ago . Stick said he plays golf with owner wether that was. Tongue in cheek as owner is Paul WESTWOOD I don't know stick didn't elaborate anymore ,, I've had £50 E/W @ 16/1 now 12/1 Any views most appreciated
On a side note I think I'll be flaming raging if I'm right in the first 2 races as I'd a potential 4 grand payout on Vautour / C Fever / Faugheen / Ballycasey
KATTANGA KATTANGA all you good good people. watching the festival from my winter retreat on the costa del sol, paid for by a chance find whilst digging on my land----a set of teeth that belonged to queen bodecia of the ancient iceni tribe. i drew a blank yesterday but fully expect my bet of the festival to winn today.took 14/1 a few weeks ago about VIGIL in the bumper race.
Afternoon all, another great dsy ahead. Apologies oddy about yday was a fecking nightmare with the signal etc.. And the amount of people all about faugheen and ballycasey today with a good e/w on Goodwood Mirage. Good luck to everyone today
Morning all. Today's lucky 15. 1-30.Red Sherlock. 2-05.Black Thunder. 3-20.Sire De Grugy. 4-00.Sire Collonges. Good luck to all.
I think they do IanW, but sometimes you've just got to wait a while for the response... They all read my posts, but thankfully none of them use them, as they would be out of pocket very quickly...
Ha funny I missed your post about your treble coming in and just searched back to see how they got on! well done lad! Keep them coming! I'm not too fllush as I don't get my first pay cheque until the end of the month from my new job but I'll definitely look more at getting involved with them then!
1.30: LIEUTENANT COLONEL 14/1 Royal Boy has gone and suddenly this horse looks to have a super chance of making the frame. He pulled far too hard last time out when beaten by Wicklow Brave, who ran very well yesterday but used his speed too early, and Real Steel has gone on and won since. A good pace, bigger field, and the extended trip are all major plus points today and he can serve it right up to them here today to get the Gigginstown bandwagon rolling. He shaped brilliantly behind VAUTOUR on hurdle debut, and all of a sudden that now looks very interesting form. Faugheen is a potential monster but has been off a while longer than ideal and has a few niggling doubts about his jumping AND good ground. I'll take him on now at these prices but if he wins like a superstar- Simonsig all over again- then brilliant for racing. COCKTAILS AT DAWN 66/1 is someone I have invested each way in. He has a lovely engine on him and looks to me like he has been wanting good ground. I think he'll come travelling as well as anything but whether he has what it takes to get into the prizemoney I'm not sure, but I've had to invest at this price. With Carberry on board, he will sit quietly, swing in on the bridle and whether Paul puts him into the race at the right time and whether he stays strongly to make the frame is another question. 2.05: DON COSSACK 14/1 He has the class to travel really well into this race and the ground gives his stamina a chance. Gordon Elliot has brought him along gradually and in the right company and I fancy he might be spot on for this today. Certainly the value for me in this but we will see. 3.20 CAPTAIN CONAN 9/2 If he is fit, well, and on song, he has a great chance today. The vibes are positive and Hendersons string ran really well yesterday. He will see out 2m strongly and I think he is mcuh better for this ground..
Ron: Glad you keep in practice in removing WUM's Ian W: Well done with the NBA bets - no interest in that at all for me, but good luck if they pay off for you. Did credit you with the Ballyalton bet (see earlier post) Wooley and others - Faugheen and Ballycasey are on my list too. Be very afraid!
Ahhh good old Coral. Didn't have an account with them on account of them never having good odds. They offered 4/1 about Quevega yesterday for a tenner. So I signed up, deposited my tenner, then put it on Quevega - I mean, it was giving money away (or with hindsight perhaps it wasn't quite as easy as that, but that's not the point). Was duly pleased when she won. Checked my Coral account at 8pmish...nothing there. Very odd. Checked my account history...nothing there. Very odd. Spoke to one of their customer service guys who told me 'You never made a deposit and never put a bet on'. Very odd. I told him I bloody did and would be back with my bank statement at a later date. Was fairly livid. This morning I get an email saying well done for my winning bet and lo and behold £50 in the account! Go to withdraw it (never using them again after this farce) and now my withdrawal has been 'pending' for a couple of hours. What a joke of a bookie.
I like Modus in the Champion Bumper. He has had two nice wins including an impressive performance at Cheltenham last time out. He is related to a Park Hill winner on the flat and is out of Motivator. Dell' Arca and Kaylis Aramis can both run good races in the Coral Cup. I really like Smad Place in the RSA Chase. He has finished a close third in the World Hurdle in the last two season behind Solwhit last year and Big Bucks in 2012. He was 13lbs ahead of Ballycasey over hurdles and has taken very weel to fences. Sire De Grugy has been the best two mile chaser this season, if not the best chaser, having won two Grade 1 races in the form of the Tingle Creek and Clarence House Chase. Somersby wasn't too far behind the Gary Moore-trained horse in the Tingle Creek and has also beat Module and Cue Card previous to that on his first outing this season.
IMO of the form of the two unbeaten horses in the first Red Sherlock has surely beaten more than Faugheen as well as having proven form at the track. From that form line I might take a punt on Rathvinden to improve past him. Though I did make the mistake of questioning Ruby's choice of Vatour over Wicklow Brave yesterday, though that was more a case of chasing each way odds in a large field. I've followed Ballycasey for a while now and will continue to do so. Corrin wood may well be the danger in that one so I will have a saver at 12/1
Yeah, I think that Somersby will struggle to beat Sire De Grugy, but if you think that Sire de Grugy is the most likely winner then Somerbsy looks a good bet at 14/1 in the without Sire De Grugy market with Ladbrokes. I just can't decide on the Champion Chase. I've said all along that at prices like the 4/1 available earlier today Sire De Grugy was a great bet (and I've taken some of it) but I'm not convinced. I have at some point thought that the winner was Sire De Grugy, Kid Cassidy, Hinterland, Arvika Liegionniere, Wishful Thinking and Sizing Europe. So Captain Conan is a banker and it doesn't really matter what happens today I'll be a bit annoyed because either one I haven't fancied will win or one I have fancied but haven't backed as much as I should have will win! But you can't back them all so we'll see how it goes.
Does anyone know any places doing match bets on the RSA? If Smad Place beats Le Bec I'll do the great north run. Bizarrely priced. Edit: I should point out that right now I couldn't run to the tescos on the corner without doubling over, so that's not a small thing to say.
Had a look on odds checker.. few match bets for smad place but none with le bec http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/cheltenham/14:05/carlingford-lough-v-smad-place
Haha cheers Jeff - didn't realise oddschecker had all the specials on there as well - wasn't looking at the tabs across the top. That's probably saved me from adding the insult of financial ruin to the injury (probably literally) of the great north run anyway.
