Williams did sound as if he livened things up when he came on, also Cressy played wide left for the final 20mins and did well. Was a bit tense last 5mins as Brenner nearly made me crash my car on drive back from Sudbury when he thought Yeovil had scored only for it to have hit the side netting....He does tend to get over excited for me when the opposition have a chance against us.!
GET IN town, I will always believe. What a surprise, we lose and a Mick McCarthy side bounces straight back with THREE POINTS! C'mon!!! Very pleased he went 4-4-2 with Hunty/ Anderson outwide. Quite disappointed to see Taylor firstly drop out of the 11, and to be an unused sub to me speaks huge volumes of Mick's opinion. That said, clearly a massive plus SEB starting/playing 60 minutes. Looks like Mick wanted to protect what he had at 1-0, risky but we got the three points. Apparently as Hoppers said Williams had a cracking half hour or so. Shame results around us didn't go to plan, and ideally need Wigan, Blackburn to trip up tonight. While there is still hope, and with 33 points to play for, sorry but for now I very much believe ( outside chance again ) that this season is very very much alive.
Love your optimism Westy. As you say, we still have an outside chance of sneaking in there. I'll tell you one thing, it ain't half nice just being able to say that at this stage of the season. It's also been nice not really worrying about dropping through the dreaded trap door too.
Hoppers How is my old home Town of Sudbury? Good and surprising win last night, my Mick slating will have to go on hold for a bit longer!!
Great win and shows we do have spirit and determination, and a most encouraging line-up...we don't need Frank back do we?! Makes me wince to read we threw away 25pts...yes 25pts from winning positions! Grrrr Lets all keep positive, optimistic half Adnams pint glass full...we could just sneak in. Must have 3 pts cracking home win against Wigan...surely leg weary by now?
Strange game last night; me and the lad had front row seats, which was nice, but the aero hot chocolate was probably the best thing about the game. Bear in mind that it was the first match I've got to since drawing with Millwall at PR under Keano, (grr work) so hadn't seen many of the current crop in the flesh, as it were. You may have different opinions as many of you see them more regularly; I can only go on last night's performance. Overall, we were desperately disappointing and never looked like we were likely to finish Yeovil off. In fact I thought it more likely that they were going to turn us over at some point. There was far too much head tennis, way too many stray passes and some truly appalling shooting when they actually got the final ball upfront through the Yeovil defence. SEB looked like an actor playing the part of a footballer: all the moves and none of the finish, and he disappeared from time to time. Hunt, on the other hand, was truly impressive and absolutely ruled the game until he was subbed. And, from the moment he left the field, we lost whatever edge we might have had until then. The last half hour was largely spent worrying about a Yeovil equaliser and their narrow squeak of a miss really does them a disservice. What fascinated me was our tendency to start moves with Cresswell, do some nice triangular passing down the left wing and then get boxed into the left corner, eventually giving away posession or fluffing a backpass into an opposition throw. The right wing was largely anonymous for long periods. Anderson and Skuse were decent - and Skuse very vocal - but I was horribly disappointed by Williams. Lots of running around and looking busy but absolutely not a threat when he had chances to make something of it. Got caught out of position a few times, doesn't have the strength to take on the defensive big men and lacking the killer blow. So there you go - my biannual review! We didn't win this game: Yeovil lost it and we definitely don't want to go up this year if that's what we bring to the party.
