Adele has a great voice but she is like listening to Tracey Chapman...Makes you want to slit your wrists after 2 songs
Here's an Adel tune, that we'll have to re-work the lyrics of after our promotion at Wembley.
Possibly col, but are you seriously placing Adel above Dylan and Springsteen in the greater scheme of things??!!
I simply can't stand Springsteen mate. I just have to turn it off if I hear him "sing". Any note that does bare any relation to the melody is sung repeatedly in a kind of one-note-loop. Dylan was a great song writer and for that is obviously a million miles above Adele, but he couldn't sing a note!
I disliked Springsteen intensely for years, the wife loved him, so naturally I had to listen to lots and lots of him and it took me a long time but now I love his stuff. Brainwashing is great!!
Fair enough mate. It got me a lot of criticism when I said the same thing on another thread. We all like different things which is great. I sing and I think that makes me very critical of people who are off key. I realise though, that in the "pop" world, singing in tune isn't always what is required. I mean, just listen to the cack on some of the TV talent shows, with respected people from the music industry raving about a tuneless performance. I've sung in shows where you absolutely have to be in tune or you simply wouldn't be allowed to perform.
http://youtu.be/HYnE6Fpkw98 2 dodgy voices but they sound great together not sure about the editing though
Not heard of him, very interesting something of the LA Woman era Jim Morrison about him, if he dirtied up his voice a bit. I listened to that album all the way through recently, a very rare thing for me nowadays. Quite brilliant blues. Now I have 'Alabama Song' on a loop tape in my head (finally displacing Zeps 'In my time of Dying') even though its not on that particular record. Allow me to inflict it on you.... All together now..."oh moon of Alabama......"
Im stunned! Who on earth can say things about that about boss???! His early stuff were absolutely magical but some of his later songs are great too. Seeing him few times live cant accept any bad words about him! He truly is one of the rock musics great ones.
Fair enough col. This is more like your stuff then...
I love music of all sorts, as they say different grooves for different moods. One of my all time fave bands is Big Country. Stuart Adamson was a really talented songwriter, his songs always told a story, this band did not get the success or recognition they deserved. The Edge of U2 was a massive fan and Roger Daltrey once said they had the best Rhythm Section in rock music. Just remember no one is wrong or right about music, it's all just a matter of opinion or taste apart from Adele, if you like her your just wrong in the head, lol, (only kidding) ! Great voice, a couple of nice songs, 21 better than 19 - her range reminds me of Elvis Presley (who was an uncomparable true great IMO). Milan got beat by lowly Udinese so no bigging-up the other Adele this week.
He's really rather good, a song writer. I have (just in the last 10 days) discovered Spotify. I haven't come to a conclusion whether its a good thing or a bad thing - near as dammit infinite amounts of music (currently working through all the Alabama 3 stuff I haven't heard before, which is much more than I thought) at the cost of a brief advert every now and then. But no ritual, no commitment from the listener, and the endless compromise of streamed music quality. I remember Jimmy Page's advice - listen to Zep on vinyl, or CD if you must, but never on a storage device/streamed. I'm getting luddite in my advancing years, but the more 'live' and rawer the music the better for me now. Excellent documentary on Muscle Shoals recording studios last week. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the music made there, but there is something about musicians playing together captured, mistakes and all, with minimum post production.
Tickets like Rocking-Horse you know what, will definitely be watching though! Looks like there is such a thing as Rocking-Horse Sheet just brought a ticket! 72 euros but hey what the heck gonna be one hell of a game
Brilliant - my brother, a 20 + year Madrid resident (well Collado Villalba now) and Atletico follower was looking, bbut the economic situation has hit him personally very hard and he flinched at the cost. He'll be in a bar somewhere I'm sure.....
