-Sheff Utd (league 1) in the semis is the biggest story right now. -If Sheff Utd beat us they'll be an even bigger story (League 1 club in the final). -If we beat Sheff Utd and Wigan beat Arsenal the biggest story will be Wigan (a league below us) going for back to back cup wins - rightly so. -If it's us and Arsenal there'll be a pretty even balance between Arsenal being so close to finally getting another trophy (they'd rightly be favourites) and us being an underdog in our first ever cup final. London press would focus on Arsenal, our press would focus on us. It's huge for us right now, and if the other 3 teams were Arsenal/Man City/Chelsea we'd be bigger news elsewhere, but the fact that Wigan (defending) and Sheff Utd (2 leagues lower) are both in the semis really does make them a bit of a bigger story at this point from an objective viewpoint.
I've always said and I always will - football is generically boring as f**k UNLESS you want a team to win or a team to lose. You simply have to have a vested interest. The reason people are bored by other country's leagues is cos they don't care about the result. Id have said to Aluko "boring is it? you do realise that over 5 years it has massively seen more goals than the EPL?" Yet people still think its defensive. I'm precisely the same with La Liga, it's f**king turgid to me cos I don't care. Seriously - try and watch a game of English football where you literally haven't the slightest 1% even hidden interest in the result and I'll wager you'll turn it off after 10 mins. Of course we're so ingrained its difficult not to favour a team. For example, Torkey play Oxford and I'd rather Torkey win cos its a place i have great memories of, Oxoman was a **** and EssexGull was funny.
We'll get the plaudits when we deserve them, ie if we beat Sheff Utd & get to the final. I agree with TWF, stop being a bunch of whiney tarts. We aren't scousers.
let the media overlook us until we have won the bloody cup. Then they will have no option but to give us a bit of credit. I couldn't care less. All the time they are hyping the others we are just getting on with it with no pressure. Job done.
