There was. Played at Wembley as was the other semi-final Arsenal v Tottenham. The Owls v Blunts was due to be played at Elland Road but they said why should they play at Elland Road with a 40,000 capacity when the FA decided to play a London derby at Wembley. 75,600 went down which was only 1,000 less than the two London clubs had.

It was a point well proved.

Both cup finals were between Arsenal and Wednesday that season aswell I think.

Huddersfield v Sheffield Wednesday. Which is why Macca answered 1930. Huddersfield won and were beaten by Arsenal in the final. First time Arsenal had won the cup.

Great footage Stuart. That was a clash of the Titans for those days, didn't Huddersfield win 3 league titles in a row in the twenties? And Arsenal repeated the feat ten years later, with the same manager, Herbert Chapman? Good luck, I hope you win the cup Tigers!

So, are you saying that every time there has been an all Yorkshire semi-final, Arsenal win the other semi and then go on to win the cup?

Not quite. He won the cup and 2 titles with Huddersfield but left during the 3rd season for Arsenal. He then won the cup with Arsenal and the following year the league. After a season not winning anything Arsenal won the league 3 times in a row but Chapman died during the second season. But they were teams he had built which did it. One of the most innovative managers there has been. The first to advocate numbers on kits, responsible for the d at the edge of the penalty area. My favourite quote about him was when he was seen going into the dressing room at half time away at Stoke. He was famous for never going in the dressing room as he would say he had spent all week telling the players what he wanted. Arsenal were losing 2-0 but won 3-2. A reporter said that it must have been an impressive talk and asked him what he had said. "I told them the train to London leaves at 5.25 so don't hang about in the bath. "
Interesting read if you have time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Chapman

Stuart Blampey... no offense mate...you may have answered my query with your initial response, but I didn't see the link/ref to the video....subsequently did...thanks for the great ghistorical footage. Then someone made a ref to Macca. (Castro ??) .

"X"...thanks for getting to the question directly.
