Have to say that I'm warming to the way we're going about things in this window - Cabaye for under 5 mil, Demba Ba and Marveaux on frees - taking out their wages, that (should) still leave a BIG chunk of the 35 mil still burning a hole in Pards pocket. IF we continue the way we've started, and get another three or four (good) players in this manner, one of which is a top, top drawer striker, then I'll have to say hat's of to Ashley.

Also like the fact that it's come out of the blue and that the bin dippers are apparently gutted 'having assumed that the signing was in the bag' according to SSN. We like to moan about not knowing what's going on, but dealing in the window is all about staying one step ahead of the opposition, which has obviously worked in this case - so if we are going to get in quality at the expense of communication and transparency, then I'll happily be the last to know.

Also, we've been concerned about a cramped midfield - maybe Pardew wants us to get away from our reliance on strikers (we're historically a 'stikers club' if you know what I mean, and we haven't always had the contribution we need from midfield - I think he's looking to build a team that has goals all over it, which can only be a good thing)

I think I'm going to have a happy weekend - think I'll just pop over the the bin dippers forum and see if they're upset - hope so!

I'm fully expecting a change in tactics next season to more of a 4-2-3-1/4-5-1/4-3-3 a la Chelsea and Barcelona

s'pose the only downside is that the bin dippers will double their efforts to get Zog?
