Just wondering, chaps, what's the quickest way to get to Gosport by public transport? Specifically I want to get to Privett Park, however it's miles from any railway stations.

I could get a train to Portsmouth Harbour, then the ferry to Gosport, and then it's like a 35 minute walk.

Are there any quicker ways from any of the stations within the city of Portsmouth?

Mmm. So Portsmouth are playing Gillingham Ladies at Privett Park.

On the one hand, it's a big match and Pompey could go joint top. Also it's another ground to add to the list.

On the other hand, it's a long journey, I've never felt less part of the club (and someone I know keeps (unintentionally) rubbing it in how much part of the club he feels on Twitter which is a slap in the face every time he posts about it) and still not forgiven them for their Christmas Party snub, expensive too and think I'd have more fun going to the cinema to see The Book Thief which was my original plan before the game was moved to Privett Park, and maybe go to Farnborough tomorrow.

Well Lapras, it would appear you have already made your mind up not to go !

Agree, you have not been well treated by the ladies, after all you have done helping to promote them on here, as well as on their Facebook page.

Mind you, the chance of seeing them go joint top must be appealing........

Doesn't matter anyway, there's rail replacement buses! A 3 and a half hour long journey each way does not seem particularly worth it.

As it turned out, I did go to this game. The journey on the way there wasn't too bad. Got a train to Fareham then a bus to Privett Park. Not too bad.

The journey on the way back was awful though. Decided to take the scenic route and did the 30 minute or so walk to the ferry, then crossed the water on the Gosport Ferry, which was nice, seeing the skyline of Portsmouth! Got on a train from Portsmouth Harbour and after an hour, had only just reached Eastleigh! Then the train sped up but stopped at a station that it said on the rotating journey thingy that it wouldn't stop at and then it didn't stop at a station which said rotating thingy said it would stop at, which just so happened to be my stop, so ended up going straight past it and had to get another train coming back! So it took literally hours to get back!
