One of our problem area is Left Back: Do we bid for Luke Shaw in the summer?. Chelsea after him also and that is likely to raise the stake, What do you think?. Comments:
He'll go to Chelsea if they come in for him. Lifelong fan. Would be tough on Azpiliceuta though. He's been excellent this season and made Spains team that beat Italy last night. Bonus that he could cover both LB and RB for them but would he stay without regular first team football. Think Cole will move on to an MLS payday or short team deal elsewhere and the'll sell Bertrand too.
Would take Luke if we could several PL clubs after him including Chelsea and United supposedly. FSG will have no business in a bidding war. We don't stand a chance unless the big budgets dont make a move.
There will be other LBs around who are just as good but won't come with the massively over hyped (and British) price tag. Stay clear of Shaw, not worth the dent in our pocket. A 25mill LB really won't improve your first team as much as that money invested elsewhere.
I would be very wary of spending a shed load of money on Shaw. Think about the way he plays and the physique/stamina required to do that game upon game. Then think about his age and his body's development (power to weight ratio they used to call it). Finally turn and look at what has happened to Kelly. I think Shaw is a huge risk. He has the potential to become a great attacking FB but it comes at a price at his early stage in his career.
We could get some one just as good for less by looking abroad. Though it will take more effort looking.
He would simply cost too much, he's very good as is Lallana but their transfer fee is going to get silly and we need to be very wise with the money we have.
Would take him in a heart beat, but for the £20m it's going to cost to get him, that money would be far better invested for us in CM.
I watched Lallana closely (well as close as you can on tv!) and one of the major things that came across to me is that he could never be a Liverpool player. He lacks one vital element for a Liverpool player - heart. In the first half when Saints got on top he was very good and influential. But as the tide turned more and more in our direction he faded out of the game and ended with him shouting at his own team!. Great feet and good vision but not for me.
Luke Shaw is a special talent. £20m would prove to be good business as he will only get better and likely to stay at the club for many years. However, there are better options and cheaper. Ricardo Rodriguez has to be our number 1 target - brilliant going forward but can actually defend, one of the best players in Bundesliga. Also, Lallana is a good player - but would I spend big money on him? No. He's 25, he's reached his peak IMO and he would only be a sub for LFC. Same as Shaw, I wouldn't mind him in the team but there are better and cheaper options. Roberto Firminio is apparently a target for us and he is 10x the player Lallana is and would be cheaper.
Manchester United planning a summer bid for Southampton star Luke Shaw http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...g-a-summer-bid-for-Southampton-star-Luke-Shaw
Good. Let them overspend on British players. Hopefully Moyes will chuck another £20m on the likes of Leon Osman!
i think frankly mourinho is more likely to bid on him if we show interest so a fake bid to get the chavs to take him off utd might be in order.
Moyes looking to get more crosses into the box Maybe not this particular deal (Chelsea more likely), but I fully expect Man Utd to pay way over the odds for players that aren't really what they need just to keep up the PR of looking like a big club. 2-3 more Mata deals could really Moyes them up for next season #keepthemancopterflying
