I took a quick look down this list. There are some reasonable players here that it may be worth a punt on. Sorry to see Gera is on the list as released. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...r-League-list-of-free-transfers-20102011.html
I don't remember moaning about Kuqi before, but why not - he was carp wasn't he. It's a funny list as you glance over it, some have clearly retired, others should retire (like Woodgate), and there are a few that Fulham have shown interest in over the years. It's the wages these players seem to want that seems to be the stumbling block - more realistic demands could mean they'll get into a squad.
nah you didn't moan, its was the Thunderbirds move at the 11th hour for Shefki - what a day, i still remember him walking out on the pitch that day waving to the fans...unreal.
I remember Kuqi scoring for us, was it against Blackburn? He had an absolute stormer, shame it was a one off. Really baffled me that Pardew signed him up, why not give one of the youngsters a chance? They'd be just as good if not better.
Interesting to see Giles Barnes on that list. He really can't have impressed Woy during his loan spell at Fulham. Maik Taylor's on there too - wonder if he'll carry on or retired. Not sure there's too many there I'd bother with. Apart from Zolton Gera that is.
Its a shame for see Gera and JP finally go. However, finally someone has realised Eddie Johnson is not remotely premier league quality. Of the list, the only one I would want would be Owen Hargreaves though with his injury record this would hardly be wise move. Anyone think patrick vieira would be worth a punt?
A few may be worth a punt. The likes of Upson, Spector, Woodgate, Hargreaves, Larsson, Reo-Coker, Carew. A few may already be on their way to other clubs but not a bad collection of players there!
None there that quickened my pulse, I'm afraid. The good ones are in positions where we don't need anyone, or are too injury prone to be worth considering, or would expect far bigger wages than we should consider paying them.
Good point, Bidley. He's probably the best available, but do we need another winger? Unless he's particularly pacey I don't think he would add a great deal to what we've already got in one of our strongest positions. That said, he's notably younger than Duff and Davies and a free transfer would be good business. I read today that Arsenal might be interested in him, in which case we may find ourselves out of the running on that one. Although if he wants to move to a club with a chance of winning silverware, he might prefer us...
"Although if he wants to move to a club with a chance of winning silverware, he might prefer us... " Ha ha - love it!
Agreed that Larsson is the only one I would take, but would he get into our midfield? The rest are deadwood. They are freebies for a reason.
A ay per match deal for Hargreaves would be low risk. He is a great player just had his career wrecked by injuries, especially over the last 3 years. I don't recall he had these problems in Germany.
To have 3 years injured is an obscene amount of time. Bullard was out for a year and hasn't been the same (apart from being a money grabber) so I dread to think what Hargreaves's mental state would be let alone physical.
He certainly would if we have a good European run with our two 30+ wingers. This season we need to have a bigger squad, rotation is going to have to be our friend. I like Duff and Davies as much as the next guy, but they're not going to be able to play every game.
