It's deeply insulting to suggest that being opposed to the name change - or, to put it another way, wishing to keep our current name - means you don't want the club to be successful. It's not only insulting, it's also complete nonsense.

    If, all ifs.

Do you seriously think Allam will write off around 40 - 50 million pounds?

    Will he eckers like.

My opinion is that most people who follow twitterfeeds online forums etc are the more vocal fans but there are some who just like a group to belong to and a nice scarf and a badge and will agree with whatever people tell them to.

1000's of city fans don't no what twitter or not606 is and can simply read the paper and decide what they think without being bombarded with nonsense like "the Allams if your from ull your common" eh I don't think that's what he meant.

They genuinely wants whats best for the club and its a good way of getting it across to those fans that don't use the internet.

To say that those who support CTWD don't want a successful club is ****ing ridiculous and frankly insulting.

I don't understand that if changing the name from common "City" to something else solves all of our financial issues, why haven't all the other "City" teams in the league thought it a good idea. Ehab says they aren't football people, well some of the other "City" teams are and they are not doing it.
I guess him and his Dad think they know better than all the others.

Everything that's in that letter has been printed in the HDM already, he's just used more moderate language than his dad did.

Time for CTWD to buy an ad of equal size with the other side of the debate on it.

There will be no response from CTWD to Ehab's letter, it says absolutely nothing new and the matter is now entirely in the hands of the FA.

So you don't think he'll sell then?

As you said nobody is going to pay £100 million for a newly promoted club.

If he's serious about selling the only negotiating point is how much debt Allamhouse will write off.

If he really wants out I can see him writing off £60 or £70 million, yes. It would be a buyer's market.

    Time for my tuppence worth.
All supporters of the football team want success ie. continued premier league status, decent cup runs and ultimately european football.
That can only come about by bringing more money in than going out, simply put I know.
The Allams have said that they know more about business than football.
I believe that the name change, if it happens, will interest the Asian market. I know nothing about business and just a bit more about football.
    Only time will tell.
    1) if the name change happens and money comes in to support premier league status then great.
    2) if the name change happens and money does not come in then the Allams will have to eat humble pie and ?????? not quite sure.
    3) if the name change is refused then the Allams have said they will put the club up for sale. Again not quite sure of the end result.

I'm in my 60's, remember the Bunkers Hill days, am now an armchair supporter, Just want all Hull teams to do well no matter what their name.

Hull City try to explain name change to Hull Tigers

Hull City vice-chairman Ehab Allam has written an open letter to the club's fans trying to explain the reasons for a proposed name change to Hull Tigers.

The club have formally applied to the Football Association to change their name from next season, a move that has upset some supporters. Allam said the name change would give an "edge" in sponsorship negotiations. He added that if the hierarchy could not run Hull "in a way we feel fit" they would "offer the club for sale".

Hull owner, and Ehab Allam's father, Assem Allam - who moved to the city in 1968 - took charge of the club in December 2010 and last season oversaw promotion to the top flight for only the second time in the club's 109-year history.

The 74-year-old is credited with rescuing Hull from administration but has been at odds with supporters over his plans to change the club's name. He announced in August that the business that runs the club had already been renamed Hull City Tigers. However, unhappy Hull supporters have set up the "City Till We Die" protest group to oppose a similar name change for the football team.

Assem Allam has maintained that the move will benefit the club commercially, because he considers the word City to be "lousy" and "common". The letter from his son published in the Hull Daily Mail reiterates this stance, while also stating that the owner has invested £74m in the club.

"We have nothing left to give, and this is the reason why the club has to become financially self-sustainable," the letter states. "Currently there are six teams in the Premier League with 'City' in their name, and with the exception of Manchester City, all of those clubs are in a similar league position to us, and playing to similar-sized crowds.

"We need something that makes us stand out from the pool of teams we find ourselves in when it comes to attracting potential international sponsors, who are simply hoping to use the Premier League, and its global audience, to advertise."

So he tries to get a lot more than it's worth but nobody will buy it? Is that the actions of a first rate businessman?

I'm no expert in business and there's others on here who more in the know.

But it sounds like to me that Allam's plan was bail City for £30m(which ended up being a more). Do a cheap deal with council to develop the surrounds of The KC and make a shed load of cash wile City are a solid Championship club. Then after a few years push for the Premier League and after a few years in the Prem sell for a profit and at the same time looking like Knights In Shinning Armour.

Obviously when they couldn't get the deal with the council they wanted and realised the only way to try make some money was to invest to make sure we got back in the Prem. But in some bizarre way they think changing the name is a way of getting at the council.

On top of that, these financial issues have continued to rise exponentially under the Allams' ownership. They take no responsibility for this though, they're happy to play the victim with all this "Our hands are tied" bullshit but the fact is they're the only ones with any power to service the debt and all they've done is multiply it threefold despite the playing staff making it easier for them by getting to the PL.

It's ridiculous this. The council don't give a **** either way about anything to do with football. I e-mailed my local ward councillor explaining why she should vote against the name change when the council was asked and she wasn't even aware they were going to be asked by the FA about it. Then the council refused to say anything when they were asked. They give no ****s whatsoever about City and least of all our name.
